Chris Powell?
initial of surname is correct

The club he was with when he did the signing is the club further south of the two clubs he managed on the A6
The towns of these clubs are on the A6 not the grounds although the more northern club actually play within about 100 yards off the A6

I give up - am guessing it is someone in non-league football and have no clue about that.

Who is it?

Grrrr. Even google won't get me out of this one!

However, I did find this on wikipedia, which is interesting...

"Football Manager has been recognized by real-life football clubs as a source for scouting players. In 2008, Everton FC signed a deal with Sports Interactive allowing them to use the game's database to scout players and opposition"

Nicky Plateneur is the answer

He signed the person for Bedford Town

The other club I refered to was Kettering Town as he was manager there

I can't find information on internet about it either

I saw it on local news as it covers Bedford.

I went there this year. Mentioned it to the guy running the club shop and he said "There a little more to it than that"

I'm sure I'll go to Bedford Town sometime this year or early next year and I'll get the full story.

I'm sure there is on of the Football League clubs this season who admitted they had turned to Twitter for fans to recommend signings - in fact I think it was the DQPR owner!
