remember though we have not paid a transfer.

£40,000 over 52 weeks is £2,080,000

Is he worth 2 million, probably yes, even though its only for 1 season but better ^^ than pay £2million and £25,000 wages = £3.3million

and his contract will probably run out the day after the last game, so it wont even be over 52 weeks, maybe 40 weeks. £1.6million if thats the case.

Would I pay hi£40,000 a week, NO but then I cant afford to pay him £4.00 a week, If i was a billionair and Owned sunderland, and we were doing very well, then why not. (make sure he is insured though)

Insurance is a very good point, working in the financial sector i wouldnt be at suprised if thats what forced muamba into retirement today. What is saha's injury list like?

We've signed someone who improves our team and squad and yet because he isn't Messi, there are still twisters?

I give up.

Good ****ing god why?
While we are at it lets get Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Ledley King just to fill up the whole of the physios room. As for his ability in front of goal that is when he is fit and he is never fit, 40k for a 33 year old crock!!!
Sorry lads this smacks of a panic buy if true and, to be fair I can't see an experienced PL manager like MON buying this piece of crap let alone pay him 40k a week (that's over 2mil a year).

A sad but true fact, I have actually seen more of Everton over the last 5 years than I have of my own beloved club and I can tell you now, when Saha is fit..he is feckin deadly !! more than a handful for any defence. He still has pace and does bring others into the game, he will score us goals

I thought it might have been better to have signed him on a pay as you play deal. Only because his injury record is impressive. Alas it is a risk worth taking in my opinion. Potentially he can net you serious amounts of goals.

First off is it true and has he signed?
Secondly Messi wouldn't come anyway not for 40k a week.
Thirdly I'm twisting because he will do zip for us, cue "he's an experienced PL forward" yes he is experienced in the physios room.
Never mind his stats for last season say he is better than a 1 in 3 forward (played 11 scored 4) so that's fine then.
He's 33 Cest, he's injury prone and his best years are well behind him, he makes Fletcher look good and that takes some doing.

How on earth can this be considered a panic buy when MON has allegedly been in discussions with Saha for over a month?

More likely that Saha was hanging back, hoping a better offer would turn up - and who can blame him for that?

I honestly don't think WP came on here to WUM. The bit that caught my eye was when he mentioned about the likes of Saha and Owen should be made to go on pay as you play contracts and I fully agree with that statement.

The bickering on here needs to stop, there's some very good posters on both sides and I think people need to relax and stop being so sensitive or it's going to drive good, decent posters away and that will be a shame.

It already has mate.

2 days before the start of the season and we need strikers ie. panic buy. If we have been talking for months why were we still talking if he knocked us back just in case something better turned up. Just my opinion on this mind but, if he is the best we can do then we are in for a long hard season mate. Some lads on here watched him at Everton and some of the barcodes watched him when he played for them but, that was a long time ago and check out his last 2 seasons at Everton.

Talc. I ask only 3 questions of you.

1) Is he better than we have now?
2) is the cost to us acceptable
£) Has he a proven record at this level that suggests he can score double figures for us next season?

If you think the answer to any or all of these is yes then whats the problem? MoN signed a supposed croc in Tony Cottee for Leicester and everyone said he was stupid.

Cottee went on to win the League cup with O'Neill in the twighlight of his career.

Wait and see hopw he is used and what he does at least before you crucify the lad. 33 isnt old in the modern game and as he has had some injury lay offs in his career, maybe he isnt burned out either?

At what point do we start paying the wages though?

We'll never get a better sponsor & kit deal, we could probs get him for 60k a week, and a low fee.

I'd be paying him that, Gyan and Bent were supposedly on something like that, though we were breaking our wage structure to pay them that. I fancy Berbatov would get 15 in the league playing with Sess, Mac and Larsson.
