Ford Heath; the middle of nowhere
I have a sneaky suspicion we will lose this. Form goes out of the window with games like this, and it'll be a real test of character for the players. Taylor would've suited this game with his aggression and passion and work-rate, but he displayed a little too much of the first of those at Morecambe, so will be suspended. There in lies the problem: with whom do we replace him? Jacobson came on yesterday with Wright moving the the, well, right, but I'm not sure that'll be so well suited for a whole 90. Sawyers is an option, and I do rate him, but I wish we still had Ainsworth.

Anyway, this really is the crunch time of the season. My penultimate home game, and a fixture we haven't won for donkey's years. I really hope that this team shows the kind of passion, commitment and dedication that is of paramount importance at this stage of the season. The likes of Sharps, Hazell, Morgan and Cansdell Sheriff; the more experienced players, need to step up to the plate. We need leaders. We need players to give everything. We need the young players to keep their heads (Taylor!). We NEED to go up. This year is our best chance in ages; we have a great squad and a great manager, and our destiny is in our own hands.

Well said Lenny! We have got ourselves into a great position and we would all be absolutely gutted if we failed to go up automatically. I cannot see Sawyers as a starter - he was poor against Burton and this may well be a similar physical game though Port Vale are a much better side than Burton. I suspect Joe will come in and Matt will go back into midfield with Nicky being given freedom to break forward as he did to such good effect against Cheltenham.
I do not share your pessimism - I think our defence will hold out and it may not be pretty but we have enough about us to sneak a narrow win. 1-0 to the Town with Colllins again on the mark.
 
Lenny, you said ages ago that people'd be surprised at your age, I think you have narrowed down your age to 'younger than me' with your CBA <laugh> perhaps I'm wrong though and you're just down with the kids!

As a Shrewsbury fan and as Lenny put it so well form does go out of the window with games like this as passion and unfortunately aggression come into it. Odd really as none of the players come from the local areas, but have just moved here to work! I still remember a game at the old meddah against Chester where there were so many scrappy incidents it was painful to watch, let's just say that the ref may as well have left his yellow card stuck to his hand.
 
vale visit the greenhous meadow still smarting from 10 deducted points thanks to inept club direction. recently vale have lost away to gulls,crawley and drawn away to accrington. at home they have won at home to bulls, lost at home to barnet and drawn at home to crewe.

gt must wisely decide who will replace taylor but i treat this game as the shrews passport to league 1

This is the season we have put some historical 'we never beat them' matches to bed and let's hope that it occurs again on Tuesday.
 
I agree Matster - a lot of nonsense is talked about bogey sides. The plain truth is that we have not been good enough in the past to beat these teams - now we are stronger this year we are beating some of them and we will see another victory tomorrow night.

Not necessarily the case. Examine the evidence. Daniels got his face kicked in leading to a Vile winner on one occasion and last season a Pope dive gave them an undeserved equaliser from the resultant penalty.
 
we need a couple of quick shrews against this bunch of cloggers to unsettle them. remember put up a great performance on saturday going 2 up at the gulls only to lose 3-2. they are dangerous and town need to be on top form from the start

by the way what is a cba, i have only just got used to a dvd
 
thanks matt, and sorry jenny i am in the midst of a late season head cold, please forgive any gobbildygook. my favourite acronym apart from ctrb has to be jfdi. i once told my manager that and he asked for its meaning, so i gave him the polite reply. -just flipping do it!! come on you shrews breath on 'em. floreat salopia. amwythig am byth. who are we- we are the shrews of shrosebury town. go get em lads.

At half time town playing well. Lots of free flowing passing football. Wildig has done well on the right wing and provided some good tackles and balls into the box. Grandisons stature is well used against some of their players and Richards doing well at RB. Sharps is keeping it tidy at cb and not hoofing balls. Cm is working really welland both strikers have had opportunities.

Lets hope second half is even better for town.
