Read the comment about Katharina making money from us....has she? Only last season she put another 20 million in...which Rodgers says he plans to pay back steadily in the long term. Another load of dosh was wiped out by converting to equity. The only money she has made is theoretical in the value of the club...which can only be realised by selling.

Shrewd business is all very well - but only if we eventually spend the money. If we compare the money we have received from transfers with our outlay in the past 2 years (+Tv rights etc...) , there is a considerable sum not being spent. Where is it going? I'd be happy if it was put into infrastructure or other long term projects, or even wages so we could retain our best players... But it is certainly not going straight back into transfers.... Where is all this money going?

Kat seems to be making a tidy profit off Saints (and I guess is well within her rights to...). A profitable club is all very well - but wouldn't a football mad saints' fan who is an oil tycoon be better? Someone who is prepared to take a loss for the success of the club? Or is this not the dream anymore because of FFP?

I now understand why you are known as Saint Muppet. Muppet by name muppet by nature.

Muppet, your posts are quite frankly terrible. You sound like a spoilt child. Get real. What world are you living in?

I like the way Saints go about their business in a responsible way these days. Bring through youth, and buy good players at a good age, still with development potential, and resale value. And then go and stick it to some of the `big` boys. Buying a load of champagne charlies just wouldn`t be right, and not the `Saints way`.
Last year Aberdeen paid a fee for a player for the first time in more than a decade, at £300k - the rest have all been developed players, or free transfers. That makes last night`s win in Croatia all the more creditable and satisfying.

When I saw the post from Saint Muppet I was aghast - thankfully some of you have already commented. The concept that any owner makes money from a top flight football club is living in a dream world; Katharina has written off tens of millions against the club's spending on Staplewood and the wage bill over the past few seasons - the TV money cannot cover running of the club and transfer fees (not forgetting agents fees and signing on fees)!!!

Muppet, from your post I guess you are not very old and have been raised in an era of I want it and I want it now,I'm so glad our club is run properly and sincerely
Hope it never changes.

Hmm. Suitably humbled.

I guess my questions arise from seeing other clubs buy success, and figuring that is the only way you can achieve it in this day and age in the Premier League. Most other sports have caps and conditions to level the playing field. Guess I should just accept it rather than throwing a tantrum.

I'll get back in my box.

We are lucky that a) Katharina seems to like owning a football club b) has a fondness for us out of respect for her father and c) she isn't down to her last billion. Would be very easy to look at us and wonder if her money could be invested better elsewhere....though hard to find a business (other than a male strip club) where a group of young fit men will hang on to every word of a plump, middle-aged woman. Mmmm....should have thought of it myself. :)
