Think with the squad we have plus any new additions (based upon Prehabs latest message that significant bids in) I think LJ will welcome the cup matches to give fringe players a run out.
I don't disagree, but in the first few cup games, Doyle, Stewart, Neil and Embo have all came on. Not sure I'd be risking them tbh. They would be nowhere near a papa Johns game, which starts soon.
After the Blackpool game can anyone be called a "fringe" player? They are all busting a gut to be on that pitch and give 100%.
And they now know they are in with a shot of getting into the first team squad. They had no chance of doing that under Parky, no matter how well they played.

Wright hasn’t been involved for a while with Australia iirc. Maybe they’ve got injuries. Very surprised Flanagan wasn’t called up for N Ireland, he’s started the season well.
Flanno is a strange omission imo. He has been called up before when his form for us was a lot worse than it is now. He has had an excellent start to the season
I might be tempted to head to Sheffield for this even though it will be on a weekday as it’s only an hour or so away. Just depends how expensive it is and whether or not I feel like I could survive a ten hour shift the next day on about 5 hours sleep.
Corey Evans has withdrawn from the NI squad due to injury. Not that it will affect much like.
I’ve got an awful feeling he’ll barely play here. We were warned by Blackburn fans - absolute sick note.
Could be a reoccurrence if the same injury. I'm sure Johnson said he was back out on the grass last week.
