Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp feels Newcastle United had to pay big to land Demba Ba from West Ham United.

He explained in The Sun: "As for Toon hitman Ba, you have to take your hat off to Newcastle for taking the plunge while others hesitated.

"But I am told the 'free transfer' came at quite a hefty price because of the fees people involved in the deal were demanding.

i'm sure we all know that free means no transfer fee and not actually for **** all (granted he did go on and praise Ba but he couldn't resist the dig)
 
Was he at Villa? Pretty sure it was him who scored that ridiculous overhead kick. Never seen anything to suggest he's a decent defender.

Edit: Just checked his Wiki, he's 26! I thought he was about 23, he's older than Taylor.
 
Dutch newspapers meanwhile confirm that Newcastle have attempted to bring teenage forward Jordan Botaka to Tyneside on trial from Belgian side Club Brugge.

The Dutch-born 18 year-old was previously with Den Haag, Westlandia, Beveren, Lokeren and Anderlecht (which seems a lot for someone that age) and is yet to make a senor debut.

Brugge reportedly turned down Newcastle's initial request to take Botaka on trial back in November to take Botaka on trial, while Blackburn Rovers and West Ham have now also been credited with an interest with the U19 international.

He's still talking ****, our total payments to agents was 6m and Marveaux will have got a significant slice of that as well. Be surprised if Ba's deal cost more than 3m.

Weirdest dream last night.

We were playing sunderland and we had ireland and gosling in midfield, I was coming home from work so missed the first half (apparantly the game started at like 10 at night) to find that we were 3-0 down. Now watching it I was getting annoyed as some blatant refereeing decisions going against us. In the end I just turned the tv off and started the game again, apparantly you can do that.
