Aye...Think everyone's been having a bit of trouble. Like OT said...the word is that it's a DoS attack from rival "606" forum sites. If the server was down then the main forum page would never have been displayed and I was able to reach that time and time again. The site was unable to connect to the dB so seems that all connections to the dB were disrupted. Either the dB crashed or it was swamped with rogue requests. Seems a classic DoS attack to absorb all resources to me.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was a DoS attack - original 606 is flooded with people advertising their alternative forums.

Sorry, just sick of amatuer internet experts. I use this site and new606 and SW, will decide where I end up when I need to. This site has server issues and needs to sort them or it isn't a possibility, it's easier to let members blame others though. I just don't like that kind of thing.
"amatuer internet experts" I'm am IT Business Analyst by profession but just made an educated guess without looking at analytics and seeing that pages were displaying yet there was a permanent dB connection error. Seeing that Mick has already stated that DoS attacks are happening last week I assumed they still were. Christ. Relax.
You jumped to a conclusion, you went as far as to say it was a classic case. I'm not here to argue so sorry if it seemed that way, I just think the site should sort the servers out. For what it's worth I would bet a pound to a pinch of **** that there has never been any kind of attack. Far fetched.

Nah I didn't get one, I mustn't be popular enough . As if a rival group would be sad enough to spend the time attacking this forum (I know it wasn't this time but it was DDoS attacks last time), it's like being a kid again and someone taking their ball back because they're losing!
