I think its pretty much guaranteed that Shay Given will come back to St James and be totally inspired into a 10 out of 10, out of his skin performance on Sunday.

So do you reckon the fans should give him a hostile reception to hopefully put him off?

Whats the point being gracious to him if its just going to make him play better and stop us from scoring?

....we can always be nice afterwards...

I would be amazed if he got anything else other than cheers.

He was amazing for us for a decade.

I'm quite happy that we have a new goalkeeping hero in the making with Tim Krul - Shay Given is a Toon legend and should be treated thus.

I wont be booing him but some will. Hopefully there will be nothing to bad aimed at him to lower his opinion of the club that he did so well for.

Creating a pantomime atmosphere wont be too harsh though will it....we do it for every other ex-player.

Cheer his name before the game....his first touch, boooooooooooooooooooooo!

A legend for us. Absolute legend. Great keeper in his time with us and an ever present till his last 1-2 years. Shame he left in jan but he's nothing but good words for us and our club and I'll always have a soft spot for him. As for the pantomine atmosphere cheering before first touch booo yeah why not? He'll understand

If I remember rightly, at Villa Park in September, Given defended the goal at our end in the second half. He came out early for the second half and we all sang 'There's only one Shay Given' whilst he applauded us, we then boo'ed every touch.

Doing it that way would probably give him a chuckle but doing it for real in an unfriendly way would go against the grain for almost all of us.

Just read Shay Given on twitter saying 'Nice to be back in the Toon. Looking forward to the game 2morra @St James Park, nice to know he makes a point of proving that he refers to the ground as its rightful name St James Park and not whatever name Mike Ashley calls it. Hope he does well as long as Newcastle win tomorrow.
