An I the only one pleased about this?

I really don't think Long is all that good. £5m is a bit much, I think we could do better for that at another time.

Gary Hooper cost that, we could have paid that way back when. I think he's better than Long. Along with other strikers who have moved for around that amount that we could have for had we acted earlier.

The question we should be asking is why wernt we spending this money that's suddenly available on the better strikers that we could have got earlier in the window?

I personally think Gedo is better than long, I'm more pleased about getting him. Graham is also a very good player and we've yet to see what Sagbo has to offer. We have plenty of good striking options for a team playing one up front.

We now have a battle fund in case there's any area we really need to strengthen in January. James Chester has surprisingly looked very suspect to me so far. Figueroa could break his leg and leave Dudgeon marking the likes of Walcott, Valencia, Oscar and David Silva.

I think we're better off to be honest.

Sorry to say this but we've no one to blame but Bruce & the Allams. For the past couple of seasons now we've needed a quality striker. All the talk of our "achilles heel" being we dont score enough goals, Bruce saying it time & time again... it almost cost us in the championship and we did extremely well to get promoted with a little help from Leeds..

Since then Bruce & the Allams have had all summer to get something done, the money HAS obviously been there to spend otherwise we wouldnt have put a £5m bid in for Long. I just cant believe that we waited till the very last minute to try and bring the striker we need in..

Austin might have been the player we needed but he failed the medical and we moved on... Sagbo brought in as a squad player im guessing as he has never been prolific in his career.. Graham, will get a few goals im sure but we needed better..

Just really disappointed that this has happened... might feel better about it tomorrow after hearing Bruce explain what actually happened... but it still doesnt change the fact that we've had the entire summer transfer window to solve a massive problem and we've failed to do so... and if we're honest, there's no good reason why we didnt bring one in... money was there, scouting has been in place all season... do your research and put in bids...

Happy to say this but all we can do is give our thank's and support to what the Allams and Steve Bruce has achieved in such short time, getting us to the premier league, bringing in some quality signings in the form of a left back and 2 central midfielders and 3 strikers, 2 quality goalkeepers with experience and a CB that looks quality and has experience, not forgetting the blend of youth with brady etc.

What a dichead!

You'd have thought the Leicester fans would be more concerned about getting out the Championship than our Striker situation.....but there not bothered about us!!!!!

#manutd confirm 3 men who reportedly attempted to negotiate a deal for Ander Herrera were imposters & not acting on club's behalf #mufc

At least it wasn't that bad?

Spot on Hullborn. There's just no reason to run out of time. We've had all summer. If we couldn't get Long then have someone else lined up, ideally weeks ago.

I got the impression they'd tried for others, but for whatever reasons the deals didn't work. It's like a house exchange when there's a chain, it's all got to click together or it doesn't happen.

I don't think there's blame to throw at s or West Brom or Everton for that matter. It's just the way the system is. West Brom were (rightly) covering their options. If they got the extra player, we get Long, if they don't they need him.

Do you not think Bruce isn't gutted?

He is the one who put the faith in Fryatt and Prossy to come good, and clearly they've come up short.

Most of you before today would have taken Deeney or Rhodes ahead of Long anyway.
I can't remember Longs name coming up in any previous discussions before today so he can't have been the "obvious" solution.

Mr Bullshit, as the newly self appointed man ITK please let this fantasist's evening be a lesson to you.

You're only one bad imaginary friend away from the hangman's noose.

I wish you luck in your new role

Should I take the blue pill or the red pill?

I'm not convinced the voices don't say the same thing, but they sound different.

You can talk, you use to dribble loads of sh1te on that site you either worked on/admined (hullcitylive). I never forget a name. You're negativity is not welcomed nor needed at least in my eyes.

we have a far superior squad and we are capable of staying up.

Considering he only became available when WBA made an approach for Anichebe and Sessegnon, we didn't have all Summer. We had since 6pm.

You've had all summer to sign a PL quality goalscorer.

This culminated with a 5m panic bid for Shane Long, 5 hours til the deadline.

So many players have passed you and it'll be interesting to see what happens with you in terms of goalscoring.

Speak for yourself.

That's because there was no indication that WBA would sell him. I'm still very surprised that they (sort of) were.

Stan Collymore has just announced on twitter that WBA have signed Anichebe, could we still pull this off given that we have shown intent to complete the signing before the 11pm deadline?

Doubt it, looks like they was playing us all along sadly. Even if West Brom did say they will approve it if I was brucie and the allams I would tell them where to f*cking stick it.

Now WBA have apparently signed Victor Anichebe ****ng hell, Steve Clarke is a grade A twat.

Put Long through a lot tonight then pulls him out of his own deal to then give him more competition.

West Brom now have a pissed off player having jumped through the hoops and sat it out all day, only to have to get up for an early morning flight back to training and then turning out for a Club that he was happy to leave and they were happy to let him.
