The 19-year-old has shot to prominence on Tyneside in recent months after scooping the Carling Player of the Month award for February for some solid displays in a black-and-white shirt.

But he knows that being part of any victory against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side tonight would put propel him to a different level of recognition.

The Northern Irish youngster will certainly receive an ovation once when he picks up his award after being named top man by fans last month, and it will come in full glare of Sir Alex just moments before the kick-off.

They didnt mention it a lot because there were only 2 games that month but nonetheless, a worthy winner and will be presented with his award pitchside tonight <ok>
 
Been seriously impressive the few times he played this season, can't wait to see more of him - hopefully a future star for us.

I'm as excited about him as I am about Ben Arfa, not for immediate impact but I reckon it'll be like having a new signing next season once he's bulked up on his meat and milk! :emoticon-0165-muscl

This. Looking forward to seeing Richardson too, the prospect of a whole team of little pedros coming through is exciting as hell.

Great prospect as a winger, no more than cover as left back in the long run. He'd be wasted there.

Winning that will do his confidence the world of good. Maybe loan him to a Championship club for the first 3/4 months next season then introduce him on a more regular basis to the first team. Too much too soon is a real danger.
