A very brief insight into my mind when I'm on a Youtube musical trip :)

I watched "Tommy" yesterday, which led me to listening to Pete Townsends solo version of Pinball Wizard on YT

I then remembered that the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain did a version of that song at the Proms some years ago and I hadnt checked their channel in a while, which led me to listening to this, which they posted during lockdown.

Now I knew that one of the founding members of UOGB had died a couple of years ago, and obviously the young girl singing was a new recruit. This led me to checking out her channel and there was a version of Jolene with rewritten lyrics based upon as if the song was written as a H P Lovecraft story.

The next recommended link after listening to that was a video of Dolly Parton listening to bands do versions of her songs, so off I went for a listen, which led me to here.

I then had a look to see who else that I knew had done a similar thing to Dolly and listened to covers of their own songs. Whilst most were people I wasn't interested in (or had even heard of), I did watch the one with Glen Stefani, which ended up with me listening to this mix of one of her songs, together with Fiddler on the Roof

So having started with a song from a "rock opera" I ended up full circle with something similar to a traditional stage musical number, via 1980's goth rock scene, diverted by a country and western/funk combo :emoticon-0116-evilg
