I'm just going on what I heard on the radio this morningDon’t think they are going to it allowed to from what I hear - if you watched Terror it gave you an idea of problems and experiences of those type of expeditions , worth a catch up if you didn’t
There's something called the International Antarctic Treaty which prohibits the taking of stuff from the ship but I don't know about the ship itself. No sign of Ernie, has he already set off to recover his belongings?
I was at Kirkella junior school in 1965 and a chap called Greene/Green, who’d been on the expedition, came into school to give us a lecture on it. Was it the same bloke? What a brilliant set of pictures; when I was at school in the late 60s the Endeavour's cook came to give a slide show and lecture on their incredible journey to safety, its a tale I've never forgotten.

LolI few facts and local links to South Georgia, Whitby's Captain Cook was the first man on Sth Georgia, Shackleton is buried there, the Hull Steam Trawler Viola is still there and the campaign to restore her and bring her back to Hull goes on and 10 days from today its 40 years ago since Argentina took South Georgia leading on to the Falklands War featuring the NSF Norland.
