Gyan needs a target man to knock down balls for him. Sessegnon isn't the right partner for Gyan, they're too similar. I reckon you should make this team - ------------Mignolet--------------- Oshea---Brown---Bramble-----Bardsley -----------Cattermole------------- Larsson-------------------Gardener/Richardson ------------Sessegnon--------------- ---Crouch--------------Gyan----------
Not a Crouch fan, but agree with the point of your post. Gyan looks lost beside Sess, there's no question of this.
Bent had the best season of his life when he was playing along side Jones. They were the perfect pair. Crouch may not get you 15+ goals a season, but he can get a load of assists when playing with a good striker/attacking mid. He got 10 assists for VDV last season. Gyan is a great finish, with good pace and ball control. I think him and Sess are too similar and will get bullied by a strong pair of CB's all season. You need a big striker that can pose an aerial threat and link up with Gyan.
I just think there are better options than Crouch, mainly due to his age and the cost, and the wages that he would command. Tell you what mate, i never wanted Kenwyne to leave, and i'd love to have him back right now, wouldn't be unanimously popular, and would never happen with Bruce here anyway. I guess i'd prefer Crouch to nothing, he would do a job, if that 10 assists for VDV stat is accurate, it's very impressive indeed.
Mackems Rule. regards Sunderland players with good feet, Jim Baxter, he actually only had one, his left but what a genius.
