Lads, if you are going to chat about members on RTG can you maybe start a thread about it or at least do it somewhere else and not clog up this potentially very important thread ?
I’m not a mod or owt just asking as I can see it taking over.
Thanks.

I agree with the gist of your post but I think a lot of people have brought some heartfelt grudges and need to get if off their chest.

It would be helpful if someone posted the same advice over there as it just feeds the whole process.

I believe things will calm down once people start posting more threads that will interest other posters.

Okay but I for one would prefer this thread to stay on topic if possible.

So what is the current state of play do we reckon?

Nothing to be concerned about, still going but there’s unlikely to be any further leaks until an announcement is made? That’s my reading of the last few days.

Yes, the legalities of the deal will mean there'll be next to nothing from the club or anyone of note until the i's are dotted and t's are crossed.

I'd say we're at a good 9/10 position. Just a matter of time.

I think that it will be announced just before Friday 11th October which is when Mr Donald has a talk in at Quinnys Bar. That could turn out to be quite a knees up

Yeah, I have a good feeling that it’s all progressing nicely. I think we’d hear quickly if it had fallen through etc.

I do hope Donald stays on and is allowed to communicate as openly with the fans as he has in the past. I don’t want a return to the comms blackout of the short era where we only heard news through the press, and that was normally bad news.

Donald's communication is great until he goes of script

Will absolutely fit in with the one to two week suggested window that Stewart mentioned at Consett.

Maybe Netflix will be at that one :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I totally believe that mate, no doubt.

I've been given a tiny little gem of info, from someone who must surely know the facts, that's given me a real boost.

It's not a massive thing but I doubt it could've happened without everyone's agreement. It's to do with an image at the club and will become evident quite soon. I can't say what but I think it will make people smile when it comes out.

Various people have tried to take the fun out of all of this but I believe they're about to be kicked right in the plums :1980_boogie_down:

Two completely different characters Stewart Donald is passionate about the club wearing his heart on his sleeve which sometimes leads him in to trouble , Ellis Short was more of an introvert and shied away from the media so their was minimal communication . I think Ellis Short had the best interests of the club at heart but was let down badly by his advisors and subordinates at the club , at least he realised the problems he caused at the club and put his hand in his pocket to try and rectify things .

That's why I still feel confident it's been on going a long time yet it hasn't been rubbished or said not happening.

That can only mean good things as obviously buying Sunderland AFC isn't like buying a house.

Especially considering the previous people we had running the show. I'd imagine anything they've found has been ironed out so they are just finalising it now.

As far as I know the talk in was added fairly recently, unless anyone else knows different I only learned about it about a week or so ago. For me, it's got to be linked to the takeover. Unless I've got it wrong and it was announced months ago, there's no way with all this going on that they'd announce a talk in and charge £15 a ticket if there was a good chance the takeover would still be rumbling on or, even worse, that he'd have to be sat there telling people that it had fallen through. The minute I saw it announced I became even more confident that the deal was done and that they were confident the last bits to iron out would be done before the event, and then when Donald said 1-2 weeks it tied in even more. Not sure if it will be the announcement, or just a talk in (with Netflix etc there) following the announcement, but I'm certain it'll happen either then or before

Must be putting some good folks in charge to run things, can't imagine any of them having time to be over here that much
Aye, I reckon a DoF type is a certainty. If Donald stays it'll be as a bit of a figurehead, someone the fans like who can be the public face of the ownership (especially as he'll likely still be a shareholder), who can do all the fan engagement stuff that he enjoys but I doubt they'll want him in charge of the footballing side of the business. I see him in that role, a DoF/ technical director for the football operations and I think Davison will stay and head up commercial, especially as he has previously operated at the level they'll want to take us to
