Must have been a coincidence mind, that a poster on RTG provided a link to this thread, then on that same day, 200 signed up..

This seems to be a matter of some concern to you.

As this concerns 'Newbies' and there's a Newbie thread, where Newbies give their honest reasons why they're here, perhaps your comments would be better placed on there. I'm sure the last thing you'd want is to be seen as someone causing a spurious argument and derailing the thread.

You’ll not last long over here if you don’t contribute something meaningful .
One of the things i like about this site is the number of posts and likes received being displayed.

Whilst i realise that likes aren't everything and there have been some teenagers and others who have taken the lack of them too seriously one would hope that these sad few would have the common sense to see how few agree with their views in relation to the wider community.

For those interested . . . . I had a message from the boss (brb, who is a Gillingham fan, so that's probably where you'll find him if you want) last Thursday to say that we've had 173 new members since last Monday night. Then there were a good few more on Friday (a couple of dozen, I think) and there have probably been another couple of dozen since (I haven't checked) :emoticon-0105-wink:

Some have not lasted very long, via exterminations, so overall we must have over 200 newbies.

The last thing that we want is this site turning into The Wild West, which resulted in the mass exodus from 'there' to here, so actions have been swift when necessary, but we will always judge things as we see them . . . . we will not just take someone's word that someone is an arse ('cos of history elsewhere), and we will monitor as appropriate.

As long as we keep this as it should be, with everybody's help, it will remain civilised and a jolly good place to be, and our job (the mods) will be an awful lot easier :emoticon-0100-smile

This was a party political broadcast on behalf of the mod. party :emoticon-0136-giggl

As @Guinness Guzzler wisely pointed out there's no reason people have to make choice between the boards, both serve a useful purpose.

Any new lurkers will watch both boards and may decide which suits them best before registering in order to post.

I'd guess that, if they had to choose, the more relaxed people who really just want a harmless chat about Sunderland, football and stuff will post on here. Whereas the more aggressive may choose a forum where there are factions, regular rows and where someone having a 'meltdown' is cheered to the rafters.

Is that code for you're going down to the river to look for sluts?

I wish, its a very boring design meeting for a project that should be very simple but a very well paid architect is intent on making it difficult rather than accept professionals advice

Just reading over the road. Can anyone translate this for me?

"sick of you with your bullshit we'll be ok pandering to stewaret **** donald and whatevever mug passes **** you and your mansfield mate makes no difference to us if your south of france be all and end all to us you conedederasniding bastradr sedlour=t tiit"

I think it's aimed at Smug :emoticon-0136-giggl
Looks like that post has been pulled by the mods. Who posted it?

I had a quick peek at RTG on a few occasions and thought at the time it was a caustic and very poisonous forum that seem to pander to keyboard warriors..not for genuine football fans who enjoy some decent craic and football debate. Good to see some decent posters jumping ship and coming on here.

Rtg is like a load of spoilt brats waiting for Christmas, they want it NOW!
If someone comes to view your house, and makes an offer, it can take months to go through. Why do the think buying a football club would be quicker.

If they are going to announce it today can they make it before 10 or after 2 please?

I have a Site Meeting and don't want to miss it

<laugh>

I've a dangerous mix of character traits, ridiculously optimistic and relentlessly cynical at the same time.

Sadly that means there's a constant struggle between the two which clouds my judgement at times. However, when the mist clears, I sometimes have reality staring me in the face.

You'll remember everyone who'd been given info was confident that 'the takeover' was totally completed and were making statements, printing T-shirts and giving dates for the announcement. Everyone from the BBC to Roker Report down to me were at it.

Then everything goes deathly quiet, Methven vanishes and Donald raises more questions than answers preferring a private 'leak' to 200 supporters than a statement to the entire fan base ...
... "This is just between us lads, no recording and don't repeat a word outside this room!"

Absolute nonsense tbh.

It's starting to look like someone has thought they could spin this thing, any way they wanted, and made a real mess of it. In doing so they've diluted much of the good feeling between the support and the club.

Why this is being done is anyone's guess but I'm sure the first rush to inform fanzines, etc, then the owner giving out information in a Blackhill club then Twittering denials isn't how Chelsea or Man City did things.

I've come to realise that I've been fed duff info, on occasions, but remain totally confident because I saw first hand proof from one of the Americans. In all honestly what are the chances of an ordinary bloke like me seeing a message from one saying he's bought the club?

I can well understand why many people don't believe me, it sounds preposterous.

But, having experienced many billionaires at first hand, I know how these people operate and if he says it's a done deal then whatever minor issues stand in his way it'll be done. There's no way he'd boast to his peers only to be humiliated and run back home with his tail between his legs.

I worked for an Oligarch and was involved in the project for his new yacht, Google yacht 'A' if you're interested, which obviously cost a fortune. When it was delivered it was sent to Norway on it's maiden voyage, not on a jaunt for the owner but to collect a Monet the boss had decided to buy.

When the boat set off the deal, to buy the painting, hadn't been finalised, no documents signed and no money exchanged ....
... but, as far as the boss was concerned it was a done deal.

Coincidentally both the boss and Fuhrman are worth the same amount ...
... and, amusingly, the painting and SAFC are also estimated at the same value <laugh>

Maybe, just maybe, people weren't aware this place existed? I know I didn't know and when it was mentioned, I had a look and hey presto, a funny thing happened... I found a place where idiots aren't allowed to run a mock. Very novel, but you know, I kinda like it

So I’ve got this right. One of the new owners is worth, in his own right, 13.8 billion USD? And we have another two coming on board with him who are worth similar amounts? And to top it off Michael Dell who has been widely reported as being the 25th richest person in the world may also be investing/involved as a minority?
Please tell me this is true and it’s almost close to completion.

Never understood how paintings can be worth so much if I'm honest.

As I have said previously the original leak (twitter?) was probably too early which lead to the build up we have now where every day its not announced means more people expecting the worst.

Me I like to think I'm optimistic in my outlook and from the info you have posted, goms comments about the companies house forms and from SD's comments of its more than 50 50 I believe we are on the vinegar strokes of the deal and it will be announced soon.

Probably a low key announcement despite my hopes for juggling midgets, and an awful lot of changes announced after the main announcement
