The one good thing that I hope comes from all this is bringing the issue back to the forefront of people's minds, reinforcing a zero tolerance approach to racism and, possibly most importantly in my mind, making it absolutely clear to young people who learn about our society from what happens at football matches that discrimination of any kind isn't acceptable.
Sport has the ability to, and more often than not does, set a really good example to people across the world that people from all backgrounds can come and play together as a team in which discrimination has no part whatsoever.
