I agree we need stability, both for the club and players, but we have to be wary as long contracts are necessarily the answer, I wouldn’t want to give ODowda a long contract for instance, although I would for Scott, it’s about balance.

So, the same source that says Simpson is on £15k, says Palmer and Wells are on £20 and £27k a week respectively, but you believe that?

Absolutely spot on and also Massengo and Benarous, different kettle of fish all around, ODowda is already on a premium wage, the younger players would not be, there is no comparison to giving younger players improved contracts, the problem is signing the likes of Wells, Palmer and DaSilva on long contracts on huge wages.

I'm sorry but exactly where have I said that? I have always prefaced any talk of wages with "if true". What I have said is they are obviously on huge wages in comparison to better players in our squad, I don't think that can be argued against.

    But hey keep chipping away.

Here is where you say there on "big wages", yet won't acknowledge that Simpson is as well. Given these 2 were signed pre-COVID when those wages were the norm, to hand Simpson even close to £15k a week for his contribution is even more criminal in the current financial climate.

Jesus H Christ, in what universe do you think that is evidence of me claiming wages of 20k and 27k per week, which was you baseless claim.

They are both on huge wages at BCFC in the context of our financial position, even you must accept that.

I repeat I always preface talk of wages with "if true".

    Try again.

PS:- We know as a fact that wages during the Ashton, Johnson, Jon Lansdown era the wage bill doubled and boy are we paying a price. The good news is for the first time in 2 years we have some playing assets in Massengo, Scott, Benarous and Semenyo.

No, I said a balanced approach, you waffled a lot, but ultimately didn’t suggest balance, if you can’t see the difference then fine. I’ll allow others to judge.

Surely picking out individuals for "better!" attention is balance!
Unable to have an opinion on where a long term contract should be titled from has nowt to do with balance, simply length of time!

    Back to the thread.

For me Semenyo is like a bull in a china shop.
But, and the most important part is he's a bu**er to play against.

I always remember a comment made about Andy Cole when at Manu. "when he gets a real chance if he hits the ball first time, without over complicating or over thinking it, he is far more likely to score".

I think the same could be said about Semenyo, a few times this season he has been guilty of that, I remember him doing it I believe at Hull and a home game around the same time. To be fair to him he is only just getting back to full fitness and is becoming stronger and a right dangerous handful.

With hindsight it was terrible business. However when we look back at it; we bought the highest scorer in the division who was scoring for fun in a poor QPR side. The expectation was that he would continue his scoring prowess with us. Sadly it was not to be.
I was delighted at first when he came to us.
With hindsight I would have selected different numbers on last weekend’s lottery.

A poor QPR side with a powerful midfield who could supply him with a lot of chances. As opposed to a poor side who couldn't supply chances for Harry Kane. In IMHO I don't think hindsight was needed, a far better midfield was, the clue was this was his best scoring run ever and that ended when he landed in BS3.

That's what bulls do. He is certainly stronger than he has ever been, stays on his feet much better than Diedhiou ever did.

But we were higher in the table than QPR at the time - weird if they were better than us!!!!
