This was the issue though. There’s plenty of free agents we could pad out the squad with. Dolan and Riis would be really smart additions (and they’ll have suitors) but I would bet we don’t engage. You can get them early on hopefully and get them bedded in.

There was options like this last summer and we didn’t do it
I would suggest my learned friend refers to my post #1805 in Summer 2025 Transfer Thread.

Maybe someone is in talks with a free agent, but like the players at clubs, they’re probably on holiday too, letting agents do their work for them.
We’re not going to sign someone now anyway, pre contract negotiations might be done, but that would mean someone having to work when everyone else is off work.
Contracts start in July anyway, so you’d expect next month to be when conversations start in Earnest. Unless it’s a major player, & let’s face it, we’re not going to be in for major players who are free agents.

Coventry were 3 points above us when he was appointed and finished in the play offs.

Portsmouth were 2 points behind us bottom of the table and finished mid table.

QPR were in equal points with equal games played and a worse goal difference and finished mid table.

It was hardly an impossible task, it was a 3 point gap.
Of he'd not lost 2 of his major January signings to injury I think criticism would be fair, but like the hapless Walter before him with Millar and belloumi, losing matazo and Barry was chronically bad luck and had a major impact

Not saying now for what it’s worth just early in the window.

Baz’s latest HDM article on Selles reads like a justification piece for getting rid of Selles

However you read it there is no justification for getting rid of Selles the guy has not had enough time, this idiot will change manager every 5 or 6 months as he is never happy.

Next manager will get sack in December if we are not promoted and in Europe by then :emoticon-0138-think.

Looks like Selles has been sacked if we're reading between the lines of the latest baz HDM article. Another massive call that is going to impact the club, whether its the fans and or the players. If acun doesn't get his replacement right we are F***** another summer of uncertainty and chaos ahead.

‘Their form post the March international break is believed to have been a catalyst for owner Ilicali and those around him to raise serious doubts about Selles' suitability to turn the Tigers into a play-off contender next season.’

I actually hate this ****. Proper slimeball who will throw anyone under the bus to make himself look better. Don’t buy this ‘he’s a good guy who has made mistakes but has good intentions’ line. He’s a coward.

He's as good as gone based on that article. If they hire another unknown manager then they'll be lucky to get 15k at the stadium next season

For this to be stomach-able they need to have a Gary O'Neill or Steve Cooper coming in (like the Allams did with bringing in Bruce for Barmby). If they're serious about going for it this season then prove it

O’Neill and Cooper who clashed with players at their previous clubs and went down like a lead balloon?

The players like Sellés. This decision won’t just piss off supporters. A lot of the players loved Rosenior and didn’t take to Walter at all.

I want this **** out of my club.
