That's right, you read that correctly!!! Selfie Sticks.

I am doing the Camino De Santiago in April (starting this friday) and want to be able to make a few videos, and sadly some of me walking and my face (sadly). To update the family etc. So thought a selfie stick would be the best.

I have an s24. Any recommendations for a good one? Or some alternative ideas.

Probably unnecessary and vastly expensive, but I was impressed with a young man’s stick last week…:emoticon-0104-surpr
He was filming while we were snowboarding and had a 360 degree camera on it which filmed the entire place and then after you could select any direction, or even select to follow one rider and turn that into a video using your phone.
Also the software somehow removes the stick itself from the entire video. Presumably by witchcraft.

I’m hoping to do the Cleveland Way in a month or so , I might take one too ! Mind you I’ll probably trip up and fall down a cliff near Staithes !

how much money has it worked out? guessing youre doing it solo

think id like to do it too, did a few of the uk ones

My son walked the Camino (from St Jean). Didn't stop at Santiago, kept going to the coast so he could have a swim.

Ive done similar long walks but not solo
But the accomplishment is insane

Even more solo
Id love to do it too

Are you camping at all or hostels/hotel?

Youll see loads of people doing it solo, youll also 100% meet some great people
Will share great pints n food i guarantee

A bit of related thread drift and motivation.
During covid I met an old British backpacker on a campsite in Hungary. His story was at 65 his life changed just as he retired his wife died and ended up sitting at home alone. He admitted he had done nothing been nowhere but due to boredom he started walking, first round his town, then day trips up into the lake district (he lived over that way) realised he was spending more time on buses than hiking so got himself some camping kit and started doing longer and longer treks. Weekends turned to weeks away and had done many of the known UK trails so went international. Famous trails in Canada, the appalacian trail in the USA and a 1000km one in Australia.
When I met him he was 78 and had just done 18 days off grid, signed into the campsite for some r+r and to restock before moving off again. A truly inspirational bloke. Oh and now I remember no sat nav or smart phone only paper maps and an old Nokia phone to send text messages to his kids now and then. Could it have been Chazz?

Drove out of Portsmouth harbour last night thinking easy drive to A34, home in hour and half. No, M23W closed, no diversion signs, stuck on a m'way going the wrong way with satnav just saying turn round and do it again. What I'd have given for a paper map then!

I fly early friday (28th) and aim to be back no later than 27th April. So gonna be tight, and probably won't get any rest days sadly. God knows how I swung it with the wife.

Doing it on my lonesome.

P.s. let me know how the portugese is. Maybe next year for me!

Just gonna use the alberques (hostels) and go with the flow!

You should do it. It's been a year or more in the making for me. Psyched up for it now though. Glad to get away and reset everything.
