But then he also has Hull down as the best chance of survival of the promoted teams above Cardiff. I don't see that personally.
He also lists Aaron McLean among the players Steve Bruce will be looking to show Premier League class. I'm not too sure they'll be holding their breaths on that.
Plus seems to think that Lallana will be playing alongside Wanyama in the centre of our robust midfield. Not going so great is Stan.....
Well Henry Winter has us at 11th in same paper - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...win-fight-with-a-slicker-Manchester-City.html
But yes, Smudger has us down as 18th - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ster-United-Liverpool-and-your-team-fare.html
Still 'smarting' after Adkins' sacking I suppose but this comment is silly from Alan: Manager sack-race rating Mauricio Pochettino has a foreign name and loves Marcelo Bielsa. That is enough to guarantee you a job these days. 2/5
Some funny bits in that article...like the idea that West Ham will spend their Sky money on cardboard cut outs to fill the seats of the Olympic Stadium. I note he has Cardiff in 17th and CP and Hull filling other relegation spots. My guess...he didn't want to put all 3 promoted sides in bottom 3 as too predictable, so put us there as he has an axe to grind. An awful lot of people in football would be amazed to see us in the bottom three in real life.
Watched season preview on BT Sport last night and most of the 'pundits' put us 9th or 10th. Most of them were quite nice about us too! Only ex-skate James was negative. I am sure it will be repeated so it might be worth looking out for, though there were no sparkling revelations.
Guardian's preview http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/13/premier-league-preview-southampton "Yet there is still a tendency to overrate Southampton and forget how poor they were, for instance, in home defeats by Sunderland and QPR or that there were only six victories at St Mary's and plenty of bitty draws. Under both Adkins and Pochettino they often struggled against teams who sat back, growing frustrated and resorting to hitting it long to Lambert, and they won only six games against sides in the bottom half."
