Spurta
Another round of seeing where the nastiness will be for the
coming season, and how Spurs do like for like against 2017-18.

After last season and the struggle to get to grips at Wembley,
the following challenges await :

1. New WHL

Playing a lot of away games and one at Wembley before
starting home games proper.

2. WC fatigue

Quite a few key players will have been on WC duty, which
does not bode well for our notoriously sluggish PL starts.

Provisional fixtures :

PL and CL information to date, League Cup info to come.

September 15 - PL : Liverpool (H)
September 18 – CL : Inter Milan (A)
September 25 - LC : Watford ( "Home" )
September 29 - PL : Huddersfield (A)
October 3 – CL : Barcelona (H)
October 6 - PL : Cardiff (A)
October 20 - PL : West Ham (A)
October 24 – CL : PSV Eindhoven (A)
October 27 - PL : Man City (H)
November 4 - PL : Wolves (A)
November 6 – CL : PSV Eindhoven (H)
November 10 - PL : Palace (A)
November 24 - PL : Chelsea (H)
November 28 - CL : Inter Milan (H)
December 1 - PL : Arsenal (A)
December 8 - PL : Leicester (A)
December 11 - CL : Barcelona (A)
December 15 - PL : Burnley (H)

The above is quite hostile, as there are a lot of PL away games
around each CL group round. Depending on the CL fixture
schedule, Spurs could be playing 3 consecutive away games
some weeks.

Points -77 GF -74 GA -36

Our defence is looking a lot better, but apart from that...

Last 3 seasons :

GF = 68 / 86 / 74
GA = 35 / 26 / 36

Finishing with a GA < 40 is a significant trait
of a PL top 4 side. The GF has been the reason
Spurs have finished in the top 3 in those seasons.

PL fixture schedule (as it stands) is ok on
Spurs regarding the top 6 clashes. Those
games are reasonably spread out along the
season.

Yet another so-called pre-season tournament has wound to its meaningless and interminable conclusion...

(edit) The greatest collection of clubs ever assembled in one tournament have fought it out for the greatest sporting prize in the history of the universe, but there could only be one winner, our beloved Spurs, who fittingly have captured the trophy on the opening day of the epochal season in which they move into the finest stadium in Europe. That they were not distracted by celebrating their utter superiority to all other clubs in the World Cup is especially remarkable.

The first one is always the hardest, now watch the rest follow in quick succession, COYS!!!!

CL group for Spurs : Barcelona, Tottenham, PSV Eindhoven, Inter Milan.

Not easy, but not IMHO as bad as the group last season.
The positives are no long trips for away legs.

Updated for the CL and League Cup fixtures.

Nov 24 - Dec 11 is very hostile, and will probably
be the season-defining block of games.
