Not a big fan of cooked salmon either mate, it's too slimy. I'll force it down if I have to. Love Tuna carpaccio though not as much as beef carpaccio but the texture doesn't bother me.

I had a tinned herring in chili and tomato sauce toastie for my dinner and a salmon steak for my tea..Must be all this fish talk that is getting to me..
Taste, texture, appearance. I hate everything about cooked salmon.
Never had carpaccio, but had something similar where the meat is thinly cut like carpaccio, but then it's cooked in an acidic marinade and not eaten until it's fully cooked through. So it's meat cooked without heat. it was ok. Unusual. Can't remember what it's called though it was years ago.

Love any seafood mate, but a favourite of mine lately is Smoked Mackerel fillets, shredded and mixed with Creme Fraiche and Horseradish with a squeeze of Lemon Juice and served stuffed into the hole in the top of a Yorkshire Pud, ****ing lush mate, try it.
It does. Right up to the horseradish bit.

It is mate, first had it with smoked trout and it was lush, then tried smoked mackerel and it was better. I also shred a bit of beetroot, that stuff that's already boiled and vac packed. Make up the mackerel, creme fraiche, horseradish and lemon, make the yorkers, stuff with mackerel and top with beetroot, absolutely lush mate. I suppose it would work with any smoked fish really?
Seriously don't mate. I don't really like horseradish either, but when it's all mixed together you can't really distinguish the taste of it, i can't anyway. Get the horseradish cream instead, it's a lot milder and just give it a try. Mix up a small batch and taste it then decide..

My old Ganny and her mother before her were fish wives down the Town End, back in the day, and in my early years, her back steps resembled a killing field for crustaceans but the results were worth all the suffering, mind we never asked the crabs how they felt about it. As kids we went willicking every weekend and used to knock up crisp and willick sandwiches during the week, washed down with liquorish water, ummm!!.
For the past 50 years I have been popping down to Whitby regularly and the place has had some great fish and chip shops, pubs and restaurants in that time, all doing the business, don't think I have ever left without a dressed crab or two and have never been disappointed
. For a special treat (costly) the White Horse and Griffin's seafood platter takes some beating but you have to have Henry VIII's constitution. But they do fish and chips during the day and are well worth a go.. For a more home spun treat The Hairy Bikers, Great Curries Book has some top fish recipes, ( and I would recommend this book to anyone). The spiced fish curry ( sea bass for me ) with masala potatoes is simple to prepare and lush. Having said all this, the best chippie in the NE imo is in Alnwick. Yes I do like fish.
