Let's see, a club owned by the fans, run in an ethical manner for the benefit of the entire community with genuine fan input, with a promising young English manager and attendances that defy the club's league position vs some millionaire's play-thing which will be dropped like a used handkerchief the moment she gets bored to be sold to faceless millionaire who probably has never heard of Southampton before and doesn't give an iota about the club or the local community. Oh yes, I can see there's certainly lots to be jealous about.

In a sense, the signing of Long for £12 mil does prove that Southampton are prepared to spend money and the fans, although they mostly think it's too high a price, which it is, shouldn't worry too much. There will be more coming in no doubt, the only downside is that agents will see the best value is to be had there rather than at another club for less.
What part made you laugh? Portsmouth being run in an ethical manner by the fans, or Southampton being a millionaire's play-thing? Both are true. Though people do have a tendency to laugh in the face of an inconvenient truth
