Anybody else read the comments from Robert Halfon MP for Harlow & The Villages? Sorry if this has been posted already

I quote “Went to London for dinner. Wished I hadn’t. Scumbag football hooligans turn Covent Garden into a disgusting cesspit”

I sent him the following email.

“Let me say from the outset that I'm a 70 years old "scumbag football hooligan" as you so nicely put it. I was one of several thousand in the Covent Garden area on Saturday and witnessed the party atmosphere first hand. The police were amused bystanders and I didn’t witness a single arrest for drunkenness, violence, or littering. What I did note was the total absence of litter bins.
It probably sits nicely with your well-heeled constituents that you are making the right noises condemning the Sunderland fans (we were the only supporters there, I know I was there) as “scumbag football hooligans”, after all it’s fashionable to hang a label on us, just like you would with the Bullington Club. I can vouch for the fact that there was no hooligan element present. Apparently there were only four arrests out of a total of thirty thousand of our people over the weekend for various offences including ticket touting, but why let the facts get in the way when you can impress your voters.
This is from an MP who seems unaware that the general public now rate Parliamentarians as being some way below a used car salesman in terms of trust. That’s why increasing numbers of people don’t vote, they don’t trust you or your ilk. You or your colleagues have been found guilty of stealing from the public purse by fiddling expenses and other misdemeanours (I note another of your colleagues, Patrick Rock, one of Cameron’s aides, was arrested today) but we are the “scumbags”.
Hope you enjoyed your dinner in London. It must be a source of satisfaction to you that you are able to afford to dine there. Unlike those working parents who can’t afford to buy food let alone have dinner in a London restaurant and have to attend food banks to feed their families because of your government’s policies. Those people couldn’t afford to attend the game and become "scumbag football hooligans".

P.S. I do hope the broken glass to which you refer didn’t damage the tyres on your Rolls Royce as you travelled through Covent Garden”

P.P.S. “I’ve just sent an email to your colleague Boris about the lack of litter bins in the Covent Garden area.
That should get things moving”.

He has had a really serious attempt at backtracking in yesterday’s Sunderland Echo and has sent a grovelling reply to me. Let’s keep the pressure on him and his ilk. His email address is [email protected] if you wish to contact him.

Well said Bob, I see the cnut's apologised btw.

At least two of the press are on our side.

The Times football writer Tony Barrett posted a picture of the debris left after New Year’s celebrations with the question; “London after New Years Eve – “scumbag New Year revellers” or just not enough bins?”

Freelance writer Daniel Story posted a kink with details of the clean-up operation after The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations with the comment; “30 tonnes of rubbish on streets after Diamond Jubilee. Scumbag Jubilee hooligans?”

What a fantastic email. I think that it's the best post that I've ever seen on this forum.

Is it possible to share his "grovelling" with us?

Yes.

"Dear Mr XXXXXX,
Thank you for your email.
You are right in that the tweet was emotive and the language was wrong. I am deeply sorry for the offence I have caused you and others as a result.
I have apologised fully on Sun FM radio. You can read about it here: http://www.sun-fm.com/news/local/1221365/mp-says-sorry-after-tweet-causes-offence/. You can also listen to my interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rTzhAkkrlg&list=HL1393939120&feature=mh_lolz

I also apologised to the Sunderland Echo, and you can read my full statement on their website here: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/...ishes-sunderland-well-in-the-fa-cup-1-6475683
Sunderland is one of Britain's great clubs, and I wish the club every success in the league and the FA Cup.

Very best wishes,

Robert"

Well done fella. I was there saturday and it was all good natured. Sunday was equally crazy! Just imagine if we'd won...

Tbf the Tories arent exactly strong up here anyway!

But any hope of converting the north east I would say is now completely dashed

Sure Cameron loves him atm

Tbf all governments have their arseholes and problem makers

Well done bobgee, one of the most entertaining replies to a pompous ass I have had the pleasure to read.

I bet he was somewhat surprised that "Scumbag football hooligans" managed to even read his comments and he was probably ‘completely astounded old boy’, that one could put together such an eloquent and completely damning retort! :-)

Please, please post his reply!

He apologised because he had massive wrist slapping from above, nice one bobgee great email

Thanks, I got interrupted whilst posting, by the time I did the thread had moved on. He does seem to be eating a lot of humble pie, and rightly so.

Again great reply from you.

As opposed to caviare on Saturday night, no doubt. Oops, sorry Mr Tory Chinless Wonder MP - have I generalised? Mea culpa.

He's probably just pissed off that there were too many people around so he couldn't get away with touching kids up.

Excellent response Bobgee there are not many of us on here who could have come up with that eloquent email - I know mine would have involved a few **** off's
