Yes, but I think the rules should be altered. If the ref had seen that again at second glance, then it's more likely Suarez would have been red carded straight away. And rightly so.

I felt sorry for Parker; thought he was being kicked and pushed around quite a lot by the Liverpool players, although credit to him for just getting on with his job and not moaning.

Of course, if the boot was on the other foot and it was one of their midfielders getting that treatment...

Don't think that they can, to be fair.
The foul was given and he was booked, wasn't he?

As I'm starting to understand it, that's actaully a fallacy. They can admit a mistake in his referee's report, regardless of whether they saw it or took action. They have this license given to them because Thatcher was booked for his assault on Mendes and the FA had to abuse their own loophole to punish him afterwards, which they didn't like doing.

However it's hardly ever used by spineless referees who do not want to contradict themselves, especially when they gave a booking.

Oh and Luke, **** off. It's not even a reasonable point of debate.

Every team that has ever won the title has had a tough, intelligent DM like Scotty.

I don't think I have to add any more than that.

Didn't Luke say that Parker was " a dirty player at times"?

I think people have over-reacted a bit. Don't any of you remember what it was like when Spurs played West Ham and he was in their team? Cos I for one (especially last season if I remember correctly) used to think he was a massive pain in the arse to play against. He knew just how to stop another team playing and would sometimes walk a fine line between excellent midfield work and gamesmanship. For instance he seemed to often have lots of niggly fouls which weren't quite enough for a booking and so maybe would still be able to get away with just a yellow if he fouled an opposition player on a breakaway - that sort of thing.

To make matters worse he could also pass, keep possession, shoot.

And knowing all this, having watched him from an opposition team's point of view, I was very happy that we signed him - and he's proven to be even better than I thought he was.

Parker is bound to get more bookings than other players because of the amounts of tackles he makes, just like Man Utd only get a lot more penalties than any other team because they play in the opposition area more. That logic can work both ways Luke <whistle>

Ps. Your mask is slipping, better work on being sneaky and sly a bit more discreetly before you get banned again.

You've quoted a small part of his post <ok>

Parker's a dirty player at times- lots of niggling fouls; always seems to be getting booked.

But that's just what Spurs were missing before this season. He's been worth a few points.

88 yellows and 4 reds in 337 league games.

I rest my case.

His game is (and has been) to harry opposition players, break up the play and generally be a nuisance. I said it as a compliment, not a slur. He is the type of player Spurs needed. But you can't deny that he commits a lot of fouls and picks up a lot of bookings. His record of yellow cards- 1 in 3.83 games- is as bad as any of the dirtiest players you could care to mention in the last 20 years.

Who's under any illusions about what Roy Keane was?

Or Vieira. And many others we could mention. And you would have had them in your team without question.

Parker may not merit comparison with Keane, but he still takes few prisoners.

Is that meant to make sense?

I'm not the one who gets banned for turning most threads into an exchange of abuse and insults, even with other Spurs fans you claim to share some empathy with. Pot. Kettle. Black.

I haven't said that of him either. He repeatedly commits niggling fouls and gets booked as often as other similar offenders- more than almost any other player.

I haven't suggested that he has a violent or nasty streak like Keane or Vieira. I didn't even say he was a dirty player per se! I said he can be at times.

That chippiness from 606 is still there if you stratch the surface, isn't it?

There isn't agreement and harmony on many of the threads on this or any other board on this site, whether it's predicting scores or assessing Torres' worth.

It was just a view on a player I rate (as is evident from my first comment here) and have previously observed was a good acquisition for Spurs. Your agreement is not a prerequisite for posting, is it?

And suggesting that any dissenting view should lead to a ban indicates that some on here hold some extreme political views, it would seem.

You've quoted a small part of his post <ok>

OK then - there's the whole lot. Which bit is really all that contentious?

And do you really not remember what it was like when he didn't play for Spurs? Didn't you think his niggling fouls in the games against us were a massive reason they got four points from us last year? Really?

Post is singular <ok>

Parker was a top player last season and thoroughly deserved his player of the year award but we lost our first game against them because we defended like dicks, I'd comment on the second but I can't remember it.

You seemed confused, that's why I clarified it for you.

In the first post "lots of niggling fouls; always seems to be getting booked." - can't be backed up because it's a nonsense. It's the usual, boring, negative crap that we get from him.

Scholes' record, according to wiki: 90 yellow cards, 4 red cards, the third most booked player in EPL history. Also, 32 yellows in the CL more than any other player. But, of course, he's just competitive and doesn't know how to tackle properly <doh>

Bale's dive last night was first class. Thoroughly enjoyed Skrtel touching him out of play before the cartwheel into the advertisements too.

Parker was great last night, your defence was solid. Walker didn't really show up in attack, which was a huge relief (partly due to Johnson being nearly as fast as he is).

Modric was muted well by Spearing. Adebayor may as well have been playing at White Hart Lane.

Overall you must be pleased on that performance with a point, we're definitely disappointed (a draw doesn't do us much good).

Wasn't a bad dive, could've given a few rolls to add a bit of emotion lol. Admittedly it was poor and no Spurs fan will back him for that, baring in mind the amount of times we see opposition players at the Lane do their best to impersonate Tom Daley, we understand how frustrating and pathetic it is.

As I said previously, I love Scott Parker :D

Walker was a lot better defensively last night, one of his best defensive displays in my eyes, Bellamy has been on fire and I think Walker dealt with him really well, perhaps why he wasn't keen on being on the attack so much due to the pace Bellamy has on the counter.

Spearing played well, though I wouldn't say he muted Modric, more of a case of Modric's options were muted (Bale & Adebayor), think I read Luka had something like a 94% and to be honest the movement (or non-movement should I say) of the front lot meant Modric couldn't release the killer passes.

Agreed, the point for us was more a point gained than two dropped, even if we could have snatched a late winner but Bale summed up his night with the poor shot straight at Reina.

Overall I'm happy, 4 points from Liverpool is fantastic in my eyes and that's without conceding too.

I am just glad that Charlie Adam failed yet again to injure him despite taking him out high with studs showing - what is wrong with that guy! I worry every time we have to play against him - dirty ****

Anyway, Parker is a superb player and is instrumental in our success so far this season. He gets everywhere and is always sweeping up loose balls around the defence. Surprised he hasn't scored yet considering the great goals he has scored for west ham in the past.
