Should Scotland be an Independent Country?

What the polls were saying in the run up to the 2011 Holyrood election and what actually happened:

The YouGov survey was the day before the election. They're one of the worst for giving the No campaign a (supposed) big lead in the Independence Referendum. Make of that what you will.
 
You could look at the SNP's victory as a massive protest vote. The UK had a Tory government, Labour up here are and were an arrogant shambles, relying on the "that's who I always voted fur" to see them through, the Lib Dems were getting boned from Cameron and Osborne in Downing street, and the SNP ran a very competent minority administration before the last Scottish election, so lots of contributory factors led to the perfect storm result and to the formation of a majority party even though the Scots "didn't vote for them" (based on them less than half the vote :))

Worryingly for the No campaign, similar contributory facts still exist just now. We have a left leaning written press in Scotland who are vehemently anti-Tory, a shambolic Labour party, Lib-Dems getting boned at Westminster, a competent SNP administration, we have festering nationalism too helped in part to the hugely popular Commonwealth Games, the Homecoming Festival and a confidence now that the worst of the depression is over, now could be a good time to go it alone.

The fact remains though that not one poll ever has ever showed that a majority of Scots want independence and for that to change will take one unimaginable leap of faith by the undecided voters.

You could, but it would be an unwise thing to do. The SNP have a tremendously well-drilled electioneering team who took the battle to the streets rather than sucking up to the media. The same thing is happening this time but with the added bonus that there are far more people on the street battling for independence who are not SNP supporters.

In the past few weeks I've been out campaigning with ex-Labour members and supporters, ex-Lib Dem members and supporters, Greens, socialists, people who would describe themselves as right wing and people who have no political affiliation.

Look at the so-called opinion polls from 2011 and especially the one from YouGov on the eve of the election. Look how far out they were - and that was 24 hours before people cast their vote. These same companies keep telling us that the Naysayers are gong to win. Do you believe them? Really?
 
You say it was a protest vote then say they ran a competent minority Government in the next sentence, Barrie.

Maybe people voted for them due to their competence?

A protest vote is exactly what it is. The same as you apply to UKIP.

Can't have it both ways skirt wearer.
 
Independence is gay. It's obvious.it's a twist on a Nathan barley quote.
