To put things in perspective, from what I remember we had a brilliant pre-season the year we got relegated and a **** one the year we finished 5th - getting beat something like 6-1 of Orient days before the season. Straw grasping aside though, there's a hell of a lot of work to do defensively and some of it needs to be done with a cheque book.

The Leyton Orient game was in the Championship season when so called big players were told in no uncertain terms to put in some effort or **** off - many ****ed off. I was at the game and it was awful. I take your point, though, a pre-season doesn't necessarily bear any relation to the team's fortunes once the season starts.

The scary thing is that if we'd never seen anyone play before we'd prob be saying that the team weren't much good but the goalie wasn't bad and that lad with the weird head looked decent when he came on
