Good Luck <ok>

I remember High Chap and Hawk Wing fighting out a great Derby from the same yard, finishing well clear.

One went on to win two Breeders Cup Turf races and the the second the Eclipse and the Lockinge by a record margin.

I will say say one thing, the fact that Coolmore only decided on Thursday which one Moore would would ride means they are throwing darts.

As MVO'B famously said,if you think you have two Derby colts in your yard, you probably don't have any.

Gosden much more bullish.

I would say today's Oaks result probably supports your argument.

Edward Lewis 11/1 in the Dash

Has been in good form since jioning the O'Meara yard. He has won nicely twice but the best piece of form was his second to Judicial at Pontefract, who has gone on to bolt up in a good conditions race at Chester. It's a lottery of a race so can't be overly confident.

Not sure Archers..he only threw 3 darts today to ensure a pace and finished second and third, ergo the foremost of his fillies were there on merit.

He thought he had the best one and for 13f he had!...the winner looked really special though.

Interesting where the winner goes now...Irish Oaks,Yorkshire Oaks and then something bigger against the boys?

Where now with the second?...Winter has the the mile division for 3-y-o fillies sewn up at the mo and if she steps up to 10f she runs into Somehow and Minding, maybe even Seventh Heaven.

I can see Somehow going abroad for her G1 (the only reason she stayed in training given her breeding page),having already nailed a G2 this year and been beaten here and in Ireland at the top level as an experiment.Minding will be targeting bigger game so perhaps the Nassau would be a target for Rhododendron, already a course winner last year?

She travelled like a very high class filly today for most of the Oaks but bumped into, imo,a very exciting filly.

Back to the AO'B Gosden debate...these guys improve horses and train them to the point..They often run moderately, but promosingly on debut, and beyond but improve and improve (yes, the old schooling in public debate is legitimate).

Godolphin horses often excel on debut and regress..Sammidd,Emotionless etc.

They seem hard trained from an early stage...Is Charlie Appelby's position is under stress?..good strike rate with the tools you could argue but they are very expensive tools...John Ferguson?..bloodstock advisor yet they buy off the peg daily?

They have a nice unexposed runner tomorrow though who looked a superstar on debut at Newbury...i'm having a few quid on.

They also have Best Solution but a 9 time raced 6 time beaten Derby winner..even in a so far moderate year?...wno knows?!

16:30 Epsom - Dubai Thunder e/w

(Ante-post at 16/1 so can't change me mind! John Gosden reckons it's a '5/1 the field Derby', but after the race the winner will suggest the result was somewhat 'obvious'. Might turn out to be a very good colt who does win it? Please, let's hope it's not labelled another sub-standard classic).

For once I have actually got some decent ante post e/w bets going into Derby day - 25/1 Venice Beach, 16/1 cracksman and 14/1 Eminent

One of those will hopefully oblige!

5.50 Epsom SIR OTTOMAN 40/1

I was told about this one a couple of weeks ago by my mate who has a share in him and that it was going to bypass Epsom and take up an easier race at Windsor on Monday. However for whatever reason that has not happened and he is running today. May come stone last but a good run is expected and if so the plan is to go to Royal Ascot and run in the Wokingham. Just passing on and not advising to put all your hard earned on.

Considering I've already backed Best Solution for the derby I'm going to have to add GLENCADAM GLORY at 50/1. Keeps missing the break badly but if he gets out better (last time was about 12 lengths down and only finished 3 behind Best Solution) then he'll surely go close to reversing with that one (extra 2 furlongs will help also). This genuinely is the most open derby I've known and pretty sure one at big odds will make the frame, hoping it can be the Gosden 4th/5th string!
