Monk the perfect appointment!? REALLY? Plays 65% possssion, tippy tappy back into defence. Cannot win away from home. Got Boro, with their relegated squad and spent over £30 mill to the same points total as us this season.............. HMMMMMMMMM. Also, late collapse at Leeds last season. Massively overrated clueless ' manager '.
You know full well what I mean - won around 6 games in a year away from home. He'd want an entire new squad in - ballers cost ££££. Monk would have to change 30-35% possession us to 60-65% his style, and probably sign 10 new players!?!? What has he done in the game to date? Absolutely nada.
Monk would've looked like a good appointment a couple of years ago, but I agree that he has underperformed at Boro. I am still surprised they sacked him though, as we are half way through the season and they still harbour promotion hopes. He did fairly well previously at a Leeds side that has recently struggled in this division. And they now seem to reaping some of the benefits that he brought in. As far as managerial appointments here at Town go, I wouldn't be upset with Monk joining (we could do a lot worse). As Westy said, however, Monk would need a big budget to even get us capable of playing the style of football he'd implement. We'd have to overhaul our defence for starters. As for Rowett, I agree with Warky that he would be a good appointment here. However, the style of football would've been just as dull, and more direct, than what we are currently seeing under McCarthy. He would have been well poised to implement his style of football on this squad (although he may have had doubts about his transfer kitty compared to what he gets at Derby). I think ultimately while we may have achieved play off places, the debate about the style of football we play would've applied just as equally as it does to Rowett as McCarthy. You'd presume Rowett wouldn't insult the supporters on a monthly basis though!
