Would be a great signing!! A team player not an individual. Price tag is'nt overpriced and we have a player with a bright future, to me this sounds like a future Southampton player. Also Robinson comments saying: 'club deserves respect' I maybe wrong but don't we have a very good relationship with MK Dons espcially during Markus Liebherss sudden death last year. I know Cortese praised them over it so maybe they hold us in high regard!! Well I hope this one pulls off: We shall wait and see.

Do you guys & girls think IF he was to sign for us. he could step up to the Championship?

i know our team in general has. but there a solid group. and know each others game inside out for the large part. then Cork. he slotted straight in there.

i've never seen much of Baldock to comment on how good he is.

Although he hasn't played above League One, I do think he's the type of striker we need. Whether he is good enough for Champ/Prem, I don't know yet but Adkins has a record with the likes of Beckford, Paterson, Hooper etc. I'd be very happy if we signed him.

It's going round twitter that it's a done deal now...
At 22 I think he's a good signing despite only playing in League One, at that age he has plenty of time to become a premiership player under Adkins :)

Lots of tweets saying 'done deal' but obviously nothing official yet and no one has a source. Only the confirmation of the Hammers offer being rejected appears to be official.

"As far as I’m concerned, I didn’t want to go there" Baldock said after returning from talks. "We told them I didn’t want to go there, and they decided to withdraw their offer. So you can make up your own minds as to what happened next! We hadn’t even finalised terms. We could have got there on financial terms and in the contract situation. It was more of an issue that I couldn’t get inspired by the place. There is no secret that I want to be playing in the Championship – which is one positive for that place – but it just wasn’t inspiring."

That's what he said about a move to Posh earlier this summer... The kid is ambitious and wants to do well, combine that with his ability and you have a very good prospect on your hands. I for one, would take him in a heartbeat. Neither Rodriguez or Maynard are worth £7m, Baldock IS worth the £2m they're after... Yes he's not played higher than League One level but he's worth the gamble in my opinion, especially considering how well we seem to bring on young footballers. We could turn him into a fine, fine player. He'd flourish in our team, it has the word 'creativity' engraved into the backbone of it, I really hope these rumours have some substance to them.

Baldock wouldn't go straight into the team. He'd be Adkinized first.

Rumour has it there is a room at Saint Mary's with a bus seat bolted to the floor (I strongly assume this where players go through the first phase of Adkinization) ...a colander (wired to a VHS player) is placed over the patients head. A Luzocade tablet is administered. A hypnotic soundtrack of Adkinisms and bus bells is filtered into the room, whilst key images of the 10/11 season are transmitted to the patient's cerbral cortex via the collinder/VHS device.
