From our Saints man on the PA:

simonpeach Simon Peach
#LCFC striker Martyn Waghorn is a more realistic target for #SaintsFC & further down the line than MK Dons' Sam Baldock, as I understand it.

doesnt Simon Peach work 4 the Echo?

No, he works for the Press Association, he's based in London so he spends most of his time covering QPR, Fulham and occasionally Spurs.
Also doing a lot of work in the build up to the Olympics.

As a freelance journalist you tend to find his articles in Telegraph and Observer, not yet read one of his in a red top.

i think baldock is on fire and certainly seems to have alot of potential.

only a few days to go until the deadline - hope we get a striker and a CB but hey theres always loans afterwards for those disgruntled prem players left out of the 25 man squads!

ah ok thanks :) might be getting confused with someone else then

if the fee was 4m i wouldn't want us to sign him, someone better for under that price

Why are West Ham such tough opposition when it comes to transfers?
Just relegated
Poor spirit in camp (see Matt Upton peice in paper)
Will play unattractive, long ball direct football with Big Sam
£120m in debt
Will go into administration if they don't go up this year
Looking to off load many of their top earners

Then you have Saints!

because they have a very good manager, good fan base, they have signed some very good players, london club (lets face it - can make a difference) and they are manys favourites - including mine - to go straight back up. most people will see it as a great chance to get to the prem next year

I totally agree with all of your statements however, it is West Ham, who in my opinion are one of the country's so called 'bigger clubs'. It is an attractive place to go and play your football - perhaps because of the nostalgia that exists there.

The Auction of Players

If the 'reports' and 'rumours' are true regarding West Ham's £4million bid and the doubling of our aparent wage offer then I would gladly see them sign him. He is unproven at this level and no way near that price.

Martyn Waghorn would seem the best choice for saints, he is younger than Baldock and although not been playing regular football recently and scoring goals such as Baldock has, I think he has just as much pedigree and potential as the MK Dons man.

He is also less coveted by media and clubs and would come at a cheaper price. Leicester wouldn't be able to 'auction' Waghorn in the same way MK Dons can with Baldock. In business sense it would seem better to go for Waghorn, I think he is a similar standard to Baldock so its down to the numbers.
