Signing another centre back. A pairing of Forren and Fonte is definitely good enough, Yoshida is solid and Hooiveld has been looking good recently. None of them need or deserve to be pushed aside.
Poch referred to Forren as one for the future, suggesting he won't go straight into the team. I can still see us signing another centre-half.
Think that sums it up FLT it's not about avoiding relegation it's about winning things!
Fonte is more than adequate.
I'm all for the idea of winning things long term, but realistically our only goal this season is Premier League survival!
I can't help but think the Astori deal is still on and that he may have been recommended by MP. After all he has said he has been researching the team and scouting in Spain and Italy. Can anyone clarify to me what position Coutinh oplays as it seems he is in the same mould as Ramirez? If he can play on the left or right then I would understand it but if he is more like Ramirez I am unsure why we would sign him.
... But they can be improved upon. We have to start thinking bigger like Cortese does. He is gradually looking to build a top team, not a surviving team.
Coutinho can play out wide or in the middle just behind the striker.
How is it that everyone thinks we are better than our current position, was NA not getting 100% out of the players? Is the new guy going to see a amazing turnaround with luck, you know, those deflections that had been flying in off our players are suddenly going to be at the right side of the post? I hope you are not too dispondent when we get our arses kicked tomorrow, because even if we turn up, I sense a bucket load of confusion against a well drilled Everton.
For me, this experiement can only end badly.
I can only assume that we're going to signing another player or two over these next ten days, otherwise making the managerial change now would make even less sense to me.
With our current squad, I don't see any manager getting more out of these players than Nigel has been, as you say.
A bit of defeatist talk round here. We could have lost against Everton anyway, but our chances haven't necessarily diminished much as we have the same players. We note that we have been improving in our results, but for all we know Poch may have better ideas than Nigel and the players will respond to it. I'm not saying it will happen, but give the new guy a chance.
The timing could be quite good...we've had a few days to get over the shock...Poch will have one game to look at the team without massive expectations from the fans as he has just started....then we have a break. Nigel mentioned a bit of sun, so perhaps a few days away in a suny spot and Poch and the team can get to know each other. COYR
