Maybe. Napoli are in Europe though, and reasonably likely to be in the Champions League next year.

Well we can't really try and guess. Different things matter to different players. For example I loved reading this titbit in the BBC thing about Andy Van Der Meyde today:

"I wanted to sign for Monaco before I went to Everton but my ex-wife likes a lot of animals. I like a dog or something but not what she likes - zebras and all that sort of stuff.
"If I went there I could have made a lot of money because I wouldn't have had to pay tax there. I phoned my wife and said "'hey they only have apartments there and you can't have a [picture of a] zebra in the flat, you'll have to leave them at home'.
"That was not her thing and she didn't want to go there, so we went to rainy Liverpool."
Nobody on an internet forum could have predicted that one!

I can't see this being true (and trust me I'd love to believe this one as I think he is a future England number one!) as last I heard Saints did our medicals at Solent University?

I met Adkins outside the Uni in Summer 2011 whilst a player was having a medical and had a nice chat with the guy. Andy Crosby was even kind enough to take a photo!

2 years ago, last you heard!!! I left uni there in 2010 summer, popped back in Oct 2011 and talked to my physiology lecturer who is heavily invovled with the pre-season tests at solent uni, as they were when I was a student. He never mentioned medicals for new players being done purely pre-season checks on vo2 max. I think Adkins was there after pre-season vo2 max test not a signing.

My fear is that these proposed transfers are going to drag on until deadline day as the clubs argue about the size of the transfer fee in the same way that the Ramirez deal did
Italian based players are technically good and reasonably priced compared with home grown but dealing with Italian businessmen isn't easy and there are always the "additional" costs that they need to grease the wheels
We need new recruits NOW not at the end of January as it may be too late by then to save ourselves now injuries are hitting our paper thin squad.

Spot on.......I believe we can stay up......we've improved but its still going to be fine margins, right signings ASAP is crucial.

Maybe Astori would rather play for Napoli, but Cagliari needs the transfer money badly. I doubt Napoli can match Saints bid if it gets to 10 million Euros.

Not sure Liverpool can match that amount either, now that they've spent 12 million on Sturridge.

Liverpool are said to have 20 million to spend...amazing to think we have a similar amount (if rumours are true). Of course we have more to lose than Liverpool.

Tancredi Palmeri:

"Cagliari will put in stand-by both Napoli and Southampton according to Sky Italy, waiting for bid from Milan that would match the Saints one"
