Sky just reported that Astori quoted as saying it is his wish to play for Southampton!!

Gosh..! We're just so fashionable at the moment. I can't think what attracts these players suddenly. It almost makes me shed a tear that we're on the cusp of being a glamour club, instead of remaining a cult/has-been/no-name/small-fry [insert appropriate nomenclature] club.

Where's Lawrenson when you need him..? :)

You forgot ale-house brawlers TSS! Never mind Lawrenson, what about Shankly?

How do you pronounce "Davide" anyway, is it like the French, or is Italian like Spanish, where you would pronounce the "e" on the end as well? Anyone up on Italian pronunciation?

phonetically - Darveed
"Darveed" is not phonetic as you've just ignored the e (as we do in English, but we do not speak a phonetic language as the Italians do). Mr. Nice is 100% correct, it's dah-vee-day with the emphasis on the first syllable.

He's correct, but you aren't, the last syllable is 'deh' not 'day'.

Not that it really matters as we've had this discussion before and concluded that nobody pronounces these things totally right anyway <laugh>

You're absolutely right, I was jut trying to approximate to English for the people that are about to call him Dave!

My fear is that these proposed transfers are going to drag on until deadline day as the clubs argue about the size of the transfer fee in the same way that the Ramirez deal did
Italian based players are technically good and reasonably priced compared with home grown but dealing with Italian businessmen isn't easy and there are always the "additional" costs that they need to grease the wheels
We need new recruits NOW not at the end of January as it may be too late by then to save ourselves now injuries are hitting our paper thin squad.
