We need somone who will go in for a challenge and make us a little bit nastier. Think we have a reputation of being a nice team with out much bite. He obviously has a bit of physical about him which I like. Still think there is a lot to be said about the old school... hit em hard and early and they'll have a quiet game.

In a perverse way I'm sad to see Astori leave Serie A as it highlights just what a shambles the league is currently in. I do think it'son it's way back up, but with foreign fans so used to seeing Milan, Inter and Juventus as the dominant forces, the rapid decline that all three have had in recent years as well as other issues such as fan violence, the crap stadiums and match-fixing makes the state of the league worse than it is. Juventus are obviously on the up again after a sombre few seasons, and Fiorentina, Lazio and Napoli are the big real hitters this season. Think Milan have really gone to the dogs and could take a while to revive themselves, whereas Inter, despite their mini-revival this season will soon struggle again in the next year or two.

But, I'm a Saints fan first and foremost and Astori will (yes, I'm that confident) be a great signing for the club. He should really be playing for a club pushing for top 4 like Everton or Spurs.

Yep hit them hard and early!

These deals just seem to drag on. Signings will end up missing a whole month of football. On a positive note, it may be a good sign that he's hard to get...we might smell a rat if he was waiting at the airport sitting on his case with a label attached to his coat.
