bbc sport has huddlestone as being available for 3mil. always liked him thought he should have featured more for england, would fit into our system and 3mil seems cheap. could easily see him going to stoke though being 6'4 or something

Main issue with Huddlestone imo is his weight, and we all know how Adkins can get a player into shape. Think it would be more of a summer signing rather than a mid season one though. Also the way he strikes a football is ridiculous, always brings a smile to my face when he gets it right

Bought Felippe Santana on Fifa...pacy CB
Huddlestone is an interesting player. Has ability but don't think he works hard enough & is not significantly better than Cork or Morgan.

Chelsea’s Yossi Benayoun is in talks with Southampton after having his West Ham loan cut short, The Sun reports.
The Saints apparently want him as cover for injured skipper Adam Lallana.

Italian media claim Southampton are close to securing a deal for sought-afterCagliari defender Davide Astori, though Napoli are still in the hunt.
The Italian international is on the market after Cagliari publicly confirmed they have financial difficulties.
Astori is also wanted by the likes of Napoli, Everton and Juventus, but the Saints appear to be in the lead.
According to the Italian newspapers, Southampton have offered €10m, whereas Cagliari are holding out for €12m.
There are also suggestions that Astori has failed to agree contract terms with the English club, letting Napoli back into the race.

No fee agreed? No contract terms agreed?

Not good news if true. If this is the case I hope NC does not expend too much time and energy on this deal and moves on.

This is all going well. Positive vibes followed by negative rumours. Just like Gaston!

Yeah it's typical. Nothing public for the journos to comment on, so to keep the story alive they say it's breaking down, then it makes for a better story when it does happen. Happens with every transfer.

Well said PTF. As I've said before, I'll go with what Palmeri and the initial report. Until some more reputable sources say otherwise.

Well if he's the right player and as good as people say, then I disagree and think NC should stick in there and use his negotiation tactics to get him in. Sometimes, patience is a virtue.

Obviously none of us know where NC is with negotiations etc. Your right in the fact if NC gets his man, great. My concern is we definitely need decent CB cover which we didn't get in the summer, we don't want to be scrambling around at the end of this window. Would imagine we enquired about Astori before window opened so hopefully negotiations are at advanced stage.
