I get Saint Kitch's point, but doubt we will be so far adrift as to be unsalvageable in January. Can't see us selling, but could see us bringing in experienced loans that we wouldn't have to keep whether we stay up or not.

I think your right Fran. we'd be better off paying a higher wage without the comitment of a long contract incase the worst happens. Although if we suddenly learn how to defend between now and christmas then spend away

If we are pretty much up by new years we could sell all our players to save on wages. Football is too important to be taken seriously enjoy the match and don't worry about being a dumb ****.

Agree gap between the top half dozen and the rest is growing IMO. You get the odd shock result but i'ts how we do against the rest that will make or break us.

Like the way you called me a c#nt thanks mate

Apart from the obvious I'd like to see us bring in a winger who's quick, takes on players, get's to the byline and has a good cross. Last season I thought we missed that sort of player, and although we have brought in attacking players I don't think the above describes any of them. None of our 'wide' players are natural wingers and I think we could do with that option.

I think some have forgotten that the players are on contracts. They can't just decide to leave if we go down. Many will have signed contracts in L1 or NPC that both had the promotion / relegation clauses in. One reason we haven't heard much about contract renewals this season because no doubt a few might want the relegation clause removed.

I expect Ramirez has a clause in his contract that is pretty close to relegation = available for same amount as bought for.

Also many keep going on about 'knock down prices'. Used to be the case but not these days. If a team wants a quality player from a relegated club that are prepared to refuse offers then the price is high. Wolves did that with Jarvis and Fletcher. There aren't going to be any Lallana or Schneiderlin off for a couple of million sales or anything like that.

I pretty much think the core of our young players are signed up tightly and only very very good offers would prise the Cortese gate open.

Saying that I am still very hopeful that our exciting attacking footballing side can score their way out of trouble starting on Saturday :)

Without a doubt we need to bring in a left back and a centre back. If we continue with what we have we will be relagated. I think most will agree that these postions should have been filled in the summer and most were expecting more movement on deadline day which didn't materialise.

I would hope we may also renew our interest in Matt Phillips because the attack especially away from home could do with an injection of pace.

Obviously we shouldn't just buy for the sake of buying but I honestly believe we are three players away form having a team which would be able to really compete in this division. We have good attacking options and will always cause the oppostion problems. If we can cut out the silly errors and be a stronger unit at the back then there is no reason we can't push on in the second half of the season. The next six weeks are going to be important as we need to make sure we can stay in touching distance of safety and give ourselves the oportunity to have a real go after christmas .

You guys are a joke, all you do is moan at and abuse people who dont share your opinion? this is a transfer rumour thread, key word being rumour?!!

Anyhow, i think we should play the loan market. Danny Wilson at Liverpool is a full Scotland international with some pace iirc. Man United may have a surge of CBs when they all come back from injury, which i hear they are, so they will have Jones, Smalling, Evans, Ferinand, Vidic and the youth players and back up of Carrick, maybe Smalling can be taken on loan? Also Chelsea have a mad amount of players im sure we can borrow a few off of them!

I would suggest Palaces left back, Parr, he looks good? But with Holloway there now..... well he may just explode with rage.

Worth doing just to see that!

A centre back and left back is what's required this January - the squad isn't bad outside of those positions

Maybe a few departures with Chaplow, Seaborne, Dickson & De Ridder being likely
