Saints transfer rumour thread

Think Boruc will start Saturday though.

 

Its the 6th time we've changed according to Sky. Not sure what to make of the Butland rumours, would be a bit of a slap in the face to Gazza who presumably was brought in for the long term, and was probably not expecting to start much this season as he wasn't ready. Not really his fault that Kelvin was awful for the first few games.

If we do go for a keeper I would like it to be someone with a lot of experience, but then Boruc has that and hasn't done well. Think that could be more down to attitude and match fitness though.

 

I thought Boruc looked far more composed, players didn't look scared to pass it to him......although I held my breath a couple times.

 

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins claims Arsenal will face a tough time if they target Luke Shaw.
The young defender has been linked with a move to the Emirates but, speaking after the 1-1 draw with the Gunners, the Saints boss claims the 17-year-old is going nowhere.
"We’ve got no desire to let him go," he told talkSPORT. "He’s under contract here.
"I wish all the best for anyone wanting to negotiate with the chairman [becasue he's a tricky customer]. Luke’s one of our players, we want him to come through and play consistently for us, not to sell him."

I think a GK is on their way ... Kelvin looked so pissed off in the warm-up and not really into it.

I might be adding 2+2 and getting 5, but it might signal the end of Kelvin now he's been dropped and a new GK is coming in?

 

Any one see all the weird head movements and expressions Boruc did?

 

They showed a couple on TV. The man is a psycho.

Not Butland. We already have a young, talented but horrendously error prone keeper.

 

I agree, a couple of early fumbles aside he did nothing wrong, and his kicking was good.

I'd stick with him, he hasn't had the chances the other two have had, lets give him a go.

Wouldn't surprise me if we signed Butland though.

 

Kelvin's attitude in the warm-up did surprise me. It quickly got to the stage where he just stopped bothering to even try to save the players' shots during the shooting practice.

 

What did he have for dinner?

 

That is surprising given how professional Adkins is always saying he is (though maybe he's saying that so Kelvin feels he has something to live up to!)

Understandable if he'd just been told he had been dropped perhaps.

 

Certainly did surprise me, considering how professional Kelvin usually is. Not sure if there's anything in it but yeah.

Boruc made Grobelaar look steady to me......!

 

Gazza and Kelvin have shown that they can both be affected by pressure, I don't think Boruc can because he's mental! It's good I guess but his commitment won't be as high as the other two. Got better as the game went on and wasn't really tested but he stopped dropping the ball.

If we're going to bring in a goalie I don't think we should bring in one who's got little experience and hasn't impressed for Birmingham this season, especially when we already have a young goalie with as much potential as Butland.

 

In training they quite often dont dive when they cant save it, no real point, didnt notice any different behavior from him.

 

After today, who needs him?!
