I had a phone call from the club this morning which began with 'As a season ticket holder, you probably feel similar to me about this season and the way it's been going. I work in the club's hospitality team and we wanted to reach out...'
At this point, I thought they might be trying to make-good with the season ticket holders. I was wrong
'...and let you know that you and your Dad have both got £63 credit on your account. That credit is going to expire soon, so I wanted to know if you would consider using it to make up some of the difference for an upgrade to hospitality for one of our remaining home games. Would that be of interest to you?'
...no thanks, I think the £1,200 we spent on home games so far this season is quite enough, actually
The most awkward part of it all was when, in an attempt to pitch the upgrade to me, he said 'Might as well go down in style, right?' - I had to stop myself from laughing because
I just felt a bit sorry for the poor lad who was being asked to ring season ticket holders and have these awkward calls
