Hasn’t Semmens been given a role in the company that now owns us and will own any future clubs in the planned group. It’s going to surely take some offer to poach him

I would hope not but unless he owns some part of Saints I'm not sure what would stop another club or The FA or the PL making an approach. Or do you mean financially?

I mean profile wise - and likely financially too. He stands to have an executive role at both a premier league club and at a group with multiple worldwide clubs. And he pretty much negotiated and made this happen. I don’t see why he would bail. At least not any time soon

Can't think why he left us <whistle>

Seriously though, he is on a 3 year deal at that salary and they paid £25m+ for him. With his 4 goals so far he has cost them about £11m per goal <laugh>

Strange thing is that works out at £120k/week - we must have offered close to that. Grass isn't always greener.
Poor lamb can’t even get a game …. Still - he can sit at home counting his dosh, safe in the knowledge that when he retires he’ll be welcome back at …… errr ….. ummm …. Well, I’m sure he’ll be welcome somewhere, just not down here anymore. He’s yesterdays news ….

Remember when some Saints fans were offering to drive him up to Watford for £10m?
There was a point where he was very much a Jermaine Jenas type. I always remember when he made a World Cup squad and wondering “Why? What does he do?”

He wasn’t a great defensive midfielder in terms of breaking up play. He didn’t have the box to box energy. He didn’t score goals from midfield like Lampard and Gerrard. Didn’t create loads of chances. He was not someone who you would bring on to change a game. So I couldn’t work out why he was in the squad. I am talking about Jenas. Winks is like that now. Wilshere very quickly became like it and there are loads of examples. I think it was my “Football Manager”/Championship Manager thinking

But ward prowse was drifting in this direction. And then he developed :
- an engine
- grit / ****housery
- set pieces

But there are many non saints fans who still only see the third point

And then you get comments like someone from Totally Football Podcast saying that he could see a champions league club going for him, IF (wait for it), the PL bring in 5 subs…? What?! You don’t bring on a free kick taker to change a game as you might not get one. Baffling

He’s still criminally underrated to be honest. He’s been absolutely sensational this season.

I think it’s because he mostly keeps his passing quite simple, that he doesn’t get the plaudits. But he really makes us tick now. What a player.

Prowsie started this season very slowly TBH. I was calling for Diallo to replace him in the starting XI at one point. Even his set pieces were way below his usual standard. And then he upped his game in every department. He's been getting better and better and he's been immense since Christmas.

He's been sensational since Christmas. Very good since December and pretty average before that TBH. It's not a coincidence that as he's improved his form, so have Saints.

I've noticed that he usually starts a season not in his top form and it takes a couple of months to get completely up and running. This season it was compounded by him having a stomach problem around july/august. I agree that his corners were not his best early on but his free kicks were his usual quality.
He was great for much of last season even when the team was struggling but I think his form right now is the best of his career and he's in the top few CMs in England.

We're keeping that quiet we don't want crazy offers from petrodollar, oligarch or iffy human rights clubs.

And, to be honest, where would he fit in? If he went to Citeh, he’d be bench-warming (and we know he wants to play). Would he fit at Liverhampton? They’ve got plenty of midfielders - unless they want him as replacement for Henderson, but I don’t see him as that style of player, so I don’t think he’d fit. Chelsea? Nope - they have plenty there. Man U? Don’t make me laugh. West Ham - he’d be competing with Rice - not going to happen. That leaves Spurs, Everton and the petro-kings of human rights abuse (and why go there unless they prove they can put a run of form together). Oh - and I forgot Everton :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
As long as Saints are ticking over nicely, there’s a great team ethic, he’s captain and Ralph is behind him, I cannot see why he should go. We should make him a great offer for his new contract as he knows he’s already a legend here and we’re on our way up …..
