Elyounoussi is an interesting case. He didn't even look like a footballer in his appearances for us. But he keeps doing well for Celtic and his country. Be interesting to see what Ralph makes of him in the summer.

His record before joining us looked promising as well, odd that he never clicked.

Whilst generally true about the SPFL Prem, you can get the odd decent player from there e.g. Armstrong, Van Dijk, Steven Davis, Robertson, Tierney etc...

If by odd player you mean a regular supply of good talent then I take your point. I expected Ely to become a regular and I suspect it’s financial rather than talent reasonsthat he has been away on loan for so long. Never got the time with the coach to establish himself IMO.

Agreed and worth saying twice.

The Athletic reckons the club blames the players for the recent form, rather than Ralph.

If that is true (and there’s no reason not to think that as some have turned in average performances for quite a while now) the club will have to reason that Premier League quality or potential comes at a price Gao is not willing or able to pay....

If the players are unmotivated and uninspired, surely that's down to the manager?

I think Ralph isn’t free from criticism at all in this, however many of these players have failed multiple managers in a similar fashion now and I suppose the beginning of the season shows what they can achieve when they put their minds to it and I guess Ralph’s coaching approach is unlikely to have changed significantly since then, so it leaves the players as the prime culprit.

I'm sceptical to be honest. Sure we've been playing sh*t, but you can usually tell if there is a lack of effort. There isn't really anyone in our squad that I'd say looks like he isn't trying. To me it looks more like fitness/fatigue issues. We've been unlucky with injuries but also it could be down to the training regime or over-reliance on high-press.
