Leave Gareth alone ffs, best manager we've had in ages and has worked with James for years so knows all about him. Sounds like he's gone the right way about it and it's now upto James to keep his performances up and then he'll go the Nations League finals in the Summer.

He will go to the Championship Play off final to see who he will join next summer :bandit:

Fans often complain when players win caps too easily, but then complain more when a player who has only been on form for a month or two isn't capped straight away. Just be patient lads. Southgate knows all about Ward-Prowse, and probably just wants to see him keep it up for another half dozen games or so.

It's only cos he's a Saints player that you are all in a grump.

Also, the big team bias thing. That's such an cliched argument, applicable to managers in the past for sure, but Southgate has proven time and again that he is willing to bring in players from teams outside the top six.

So you think Fabian Delph deserves a call-up, for example? I certainly don't, and you can gurantee if he had exactly the same amount of minutes for us, he wouldn't be anywhere near.

It is a little harsh, but don’t forget Delph is a big personality/leader in both City’s dressing room and the England one. In such a young squad, it’s important to have some experience

If JWP carries on as he is doing he may get a chance, but for a player to be brought in they have to be far better than the incumbent. Players already in the senior England fold will take some displacing...experience counts. It was a shame that James was not doing well when Southgate got the job...he would certainly have been considered then because he was well thought of in the U21s. Saints didn't do James any favours.

I just found it funny all of the abuse of Gareth, can you imagine some of the same posters reactions if Ralph was called a ****ing knob on here?

They're different type of players. And the reason players from big teams are favoured is because they play in higher quality competitions and in higher pressure situations, week in week out.

Southgate knows exactly what he will get from Delph et al. With JWP you just don't know. Will he hit the ground running on the international stage? Probably not to be honest.

Ward-Prowse will probably get exactly the same amount of game time as Delph anyway.
