Before we played Leeds in that first Championship game after promotion , I was discussing the future of Saints players with a bloke. He had a clear idea of footballing talent. Lallana was about to be shown up; Lambert was never going to make it and so on. On Hammond he simply declared that he was "****ing useless" as he always hid during games. He concluded that Saints were going to get stuffed that day.
I didn't see the bloke after Hammond's shot put us on the way to a comfortable win. The shake out of players as we moved through the leagues was pretty ruthless, but when people say that Nigel was short-changed I think of the way we treated Dean Hammond.
Yeah couldn't agree more about the way we treated him, still leaves a bitter taste now tbh.
He went from playing 48 games in the 2011-12 season to just one in 2012-13, in the League Cup, so was literally not given a chance in the PL.
Ralph Krueger is being linked away to a return to NHL......maybe.

I have been looking for signs of insanity in you for a while now. Well here we are. You must tell me which Championship team is going to want to send its boys out for a kickabout at SMS? There is almost no such thing as mid-table safety in the Championship at this time of the season with play offs to chase and relegation to avoid. But hey, you probably know more than me. I look forward to the press release that says James Ward Prowse sustained an injury playing in a friendly. That'll go down well with the fans.

Already saw that in a blog last week....yes, I know just a blog, but it doesn't take long for people to sniff round. The author thought Valery wouldn't command the usual Southampton bonus....suggestion was under 3 million. Yeah, right. Do think he needs a contract extension though.
I would suggest an extension for Valery should be extremely high priority.
I am thinking, We are waiting to find out if we are staying up before contracts are done, But yes.. He deserves a 5 yr deal.
