Not a great look when it's against a local team, but it is a Monday evening game...I'd be a little concerned if it was a Saturday afternoon, but Monday night matches are a tough draw for any team. Discounting tickets in that fashion is still a risky move, because it discourages people from buying tickets earlier (or buying season tickets, if you make a habit of it).
Yeah that along with the STH offer and they're gonna have to re assess their prices if these sorts of offers are going to be regular.
Agreed. Otherwise, you get into a bit of a death spiral...people start waiting to see whether tickets get discounted, which leads to more panicky situations where you need to discount tickets. If you might be facing smaller crowds, better to set more rational ticket prices from the off.
Not only that, but you have to be careful that you don't decrease the value of the ST too much otherwise you might be trying to tempt even more next season...
Very much so. The discounts on STs aren't massive compared to many other sports; the cheapest we had on offer this season was £541 per the OS, or about £57 for two tickets over 19 matches. The Groupon offer is for £50 for two tickets; you cannot undercut the ST cost too often before it's far more beneficial to buy piecemeal, unless you're really tied to your seats etc.
People are getting pissed off with the media's obsession with the super six. I know I am.
