Hughes might manage to get a full squad by the end of his three years if we really get a move on. We will be playing u18s this season.
Wes may be our best central defender but I’m not convinced by him just yet. Whether he stays or not we need to buy a starting CB regardless. All three of Bednarek, Stephens and Hoedt are developing/have potential, so we need someone to come in and be the main defender to play alongside one/two of those three.

I know we all love it when he scores from free kicks but I have to say, the free kick James took against Chelsea from which Bednarek scored was as perfectly executed a cross as I have ever seen. The topspin and whip he generated was phenomenal, the ball went over the jumping Cahill’s head but within about a yard had dropped to the perfect height for Jan to smash it in. I really hope he gets more game time next season as he is getting into his best footballing years now.
It's a shame that you can't just put a player on for dead ball situations as they do in hockey. James would get far more opportunities that way.
