Wow, that's fantastic. He still goes under the wire at Saints, in terms of appreciation, but there are plenty that see his contribution. Great player.
Should have been an OBE....Other Buggers Efforts....An MBE? For playing football.
Do remember that players get knighted for kicking a bit of leather around an area of grass, to which you people spend far too much of your time appreciating. Stevo deserves his recognition as much as anyone.

Have to agree with you Tom, don't think in general that sportspeople should recieve honours.
Since when has anyone on the honours list deserved to be on it? Back bench Tories and Civil Servants seem to get them as a matter of course as does the military top brass.
Someone must have bought him a comb on his stag do.
Most people that get recognised for the good that they do, never ask for the recognition, but are usually honoured when they are awarded it, it does encourage others to emulate them and that is the whole point of the system. Are you of the opinion that they don't deserve it because they are wealthy?
Only a matter of time before Matt Le Tiss get's his knighthood, but will have to settle for his deity status for the moment.
