The quality isn't so hot, but this is taken from a print made at the time. Once again Spurs, and Centre Half, Mike England. Does anyone remember those hoops at The Dell, otherwise I'm thinking White Hart Lane again. Note the spectators wearing ties. And the pitch.! Must be The Dell.

EDIT: Not The Dell. Definitely WHL.

I'm getting all nostalgic. Can't remember those hoops at the Dell. That must be me in front of Mike England's nose, Mum always told me to wear a hat.

Great photos! Is that Channon or Chivers making a back for big Ron there TSS?

there's more grass in the side burns than on the pitch!

Tbh, that's why I thought it was The Dell. That old pitch could get like a swamp at times. Then again, so did every football pitch in those days. Chelsea's was the worst. Guaranteed quagmire after every winter.

I remember the last game at The Dell when we tore up the pitch for souvenirs and it was mostly a sand mix and soil. They'd obviously learned a lot more about drainage by 2000. These days it's rare for the St Mary's pitch to even get even slightly cut up in the goal mouths. They spend so much expertise and technology on keeping it good.

Came across another. This is definitely The Dell. The West Stand in the background, going by a gut feeling alone. Anyone confirm.?:

Saints v Leicester City. Ron climbing high and making Peter Shilton's life a bit harder. Saints No.10 must be Bobby Stokes, and nobody wears their Saints shirt over arse quite like Mick Channon. Ref behind the bunch of players. Who the shouting LC player is, I'm not sure.
