I really don't think Claude Puel is dull and find it a bit annoying many people believe he is.

He is simply not English and is learning the language. People judge him as being dull because he doesn't express himself, I don't think I'd be able to express my feelings in an interview if I went to France!

The only time people give him credit for being exciting and having passion is whenot he is beside the pitch, reacting to the game. Funnily enough he doesn't have to speak then. Let the fella learn the language!
I judge 'dull' on whether or not I could stand to be stuck in a lift with the person for a couple of hours. I'll leave you to decide.

When I am in France, I have a job (I know, that's a shock to some of you) in which I act as a "facilitator" for French people learning English. Basically, I go out to lunch with up to 6 French people - usually youngish and in business - and speak English while being fed grotesquely expensive food. And I get paid for it. It's hell, but someone has to do it.

Anyway, point is that occasionally I get lucky and there will be a group who speak English sufficiently well to be genuinely interesting. There are times when it's excruciatingly painful and I have to work hard for my lunch. In between, there are lots of dullish conversations. As we leave the restaurant, we usually have a break and speak French for a few minutes. Many of those who have been pretty damned boring in English suddenly become animated when they are speaking French. Surprise!

I have seen comments about Claude being amusing, witty and generally good fun. I'll take their word for it, rather than the painful experience of seeing him try to express himself in English. At least, unlike Poch, he gives it a go.

So mange tout, Claude. English is canard.

I caught part of a very long ad on the TV last week. What caught my eye were the handful of Saints "players" running past - I had to pause and rewind as I wasn't sure that I'd seen right, but I had. Turned out to be an ad for Virgin Media :D

That's the ad with lots of characters and sportsmen running down a cable....I like that one. I wondered if they were Saints players....makes sense as it's Virgin Media.

See people are moaning in the press about no concessions for season ticket renewals. I don't get it....the prices haven't gone up, so what difference does it make. It will be ongoing now with all season tickets costing the same in future seasons I expect, so there may be a theoretical loss then....but so what in the scheme of things. They've introduced more cheap tickets for kids....the next generation....which is an excellent move.
