I agree, but my point is we actively sort them out as ‘unknowns’ or a risk. Not Bellingham in his current guise.
I wouldn’t call either of them unknowns though. Gakpo was being linked with Man Utd all summer and only after they signed Antony did we feel there was a slight chance he would come. Ramos has been playing pretty regularly for a CL side in Benfica. They might’ve been unknowns to the average football fan in England but definitely wouldn’t have been to any more invested fan or pro club. Players like Edozie and Larios I would say are more unknowns and we managed to sign them. Whether that will turn out to be a good or a bad thing time will tell. Whilst I’m sure a lot of people like the idea of signing a load of young players with hopefully big futures it’s undeniable we are struggling in the present and if we were to go down then there is a good chance we lose some/all of the ones who look like having the brightest future anyway. I feel that the plan this season was always to just survive (no matter what they say publicly) and give these players a season to grow. That could still happen as it is so tight but at this current time we are one of the bottom 3 so something needs to change, maybe we have already done that with a new manager but we’ll just have to wait and see
IMPORTANT: Saints v Lincoln has been moved from Wednesday 21st December to Tuesday 20th December due to planned strike action by crucial medical services.
The club are saying that any tickets already purchased will be valid for the new date, but if anyone wants to return their tickets, they need to do so by 13:00 on Monday 19th. I wonder if their refund offer stretches to the booking fee?
Well that's an utter pisstake. Can't make the rearranged game so cheers for that. Expect there'll be a lot of Lincoln fans who may have booked travel and accommodation for the original date to be feeling a bit pissed off as well.
Lincoln have sold 1500 tickets so chances are some will have issues. Hopefully hotels will be understanding. It's ****ty but sounds like there were no other dates available and playing on the scheduled date wasn't an option.
That's great news. I couldn't make it on the Wednesday and can't make it on the Tuesday either, so I still won't have to go.
That’s great news for you. I can make it on both nights but I’ll be ****ed if I’m freezing my tits off to watch that.
Forecast is for 7 degrees at kick off. If that defines "freezing my tits off" it sounds like you need to man up.
Saints are planning a fans forum a St Mary's with Toby Steele to discuss the next steps regarding Block 1. The club are trying to be pro-active in finding a long term solution at least. Hopefully fans will raise points such as improve the stewarding in that area, crack down on away fans sneaking in the home end. Ban any new supporter numbers in that area would be a good place to start.
Southampton FC (First Team) v Lincoln City FC (First Team) EFL Cup Referee: Gillett, Jarred Assistant Referee: Davies, Neil Assistant Referee: Aspinall, Natalie Fourth Official: Breakspear, Charles
Depends who you listen to on that. My Leeds mates are all convinced he was going there over us but only a call from Van Gaal who told him not to go and wait til after the World Cup changed his mind. I just don’t think Gakpo was ever going to come here, and whilst it’s all great to say “well we tried” ultimately we are doing poorly and a large part of that is having limited options who can score
"Why are away fans wearing colours being admitted through home turnstiles and told to just cover up?" "Why are stewards ignoring the clubs own terms and conditions contributing to an unsafe area? Do the club not take their duty of care to their own supporters seriously?" If they're not gonna allow questions like that then it's a waste of time.
Maybe this is for the best given engineering works on that day mean any Soton-London trains will go via Fareham/Havant Pathetic from the authorities to not move one of us to the Sunday imo. It's almost as if Hampshire police have got a whiff of potential derbies next season and could do with something happening to ensure their OT isn't at risk.
