At the end of the day the risks are tiny for PL footballers. They are tested twice a week and all the equipment they use and even the pitches are disinfected.

And that they are testing them twice a week is a piss take. Football is entertainment. It should wait with all the other forms of entertainment. You don't see Cinemas opening up. They could in theory only open up every other seat and disenfect the seats after. But that's not even a consideration because it's not necessary and not worth the risk. Same as football.

But the government (OK, this is probably political, but hey, I'm bored) want to take everone's minds off the actual issues by shouting "It's OK, everyone, football is back". The tabloids will splash this across front and back pages, and world will be a much better place. They will probably use the Thursday's applause for the NHS and other key workers as a soundtrack for each goal.
